Melody Ann Allen of
Palacios and Poger Paul
Keim of San Antonio
were united in marriage
at the First United Meth-
odist Church of Palacios
Saturday, June 27 at
3:00 in the afternoon.
Reverend Barry Bau-
erschlag officiated at the
double ring ceremony.
The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Roy E. Allen of
Palacios. Her grand-
mother is Mrs. Vivian
M. Allen of Pasadena.
The groom is the son
of Maj. and Mrs. Walter
H. Keim of San Antonio.
He is the grandson of Lt.
Col. (Ret.) and Mrs.
Laurie Hess and Mr. and
Mrs. WalterG. Keim, all
of Washington; D.C.
Traditional wedding
music was provided by
Edwin Holsworth, or-
ganist, and Raymond
Allen and Bruce Allen,
brothers of the bride, as
soloists.
Edwin played “Moon-
shadow” as a piano
instrumental; Raymond
sang "Morning Has Bro-
ken" and Bruce sang
"Longer”.
The altar was adorned
with baskets of white
gladiolas, babies breath,
greenery and candela-
bras. An arrangement of
blue and white carna-
tions and greenery sat
atop the piano.
The bride, - given in
marriage by her father,
chose for her wedding a

A miscellaneous bridal
shower was given to
honor Pam Curtner, fu-
ture bride-to-be of Gary
Joines, on June 28 at St.
Peter’s Parish Hall in
Blessing.
Hostesses for the
event included Mmes.
Charlie Smith, Tony Sli-
va, Sr., Frank Rickaway,
A.M. Logan, Frank Hav-
el, H.D. Coffman, Ar-

The registration table
was covered with a lilac
and lace overlay. Above
the table was a lattice
frame containing the in-
scription of "Pam and
Gary" in gold letters and
trimmed with greenery
and lilac ribbons. Mrs.
Larry Dillard, bride’s
maid, greeted and reg-
istered the guests.
Seated at the head
table were the honoree;
Mrs. Calvin R. Curtner,
the mother of the bride-
to-be; Mrs. Marvin C.

bride-to-be.
The reception table
was draped with a ruf-
fled lace table cloth and
held a floral arrange-
ment of assorted lilac
silk flowers and fresh
greenery contained in a
crystal bowl atop a silver
pedestal. Silver candle-
abras graced each side of
the centerpiece. Nuts,
mints, and assorted can-
dies and cookies were
served.

ed Mrs. Calvin R. Curt-
ner. mother of theTuture
bride; Mrs. Marvin C.
Joines, mother of the
prospective groom; Mrs.
Emelia Windberg,
grandmother of the hon-
oree; Mrs. Bobby Lively.

The wedding is set for
September 19 at 2:00 in
the afternoon at St.
Peter’s Catholic Church
in Blessing.
During the construction of
the Hoover Dam, con-
crete had to be poured
continually for two years.

lovely gown featuring a
fitted bodice, a sheer
yoke adorned with
sweetheart lace, an em-
pire waist, and a high
necked collar trimmed in
matching lace. The sheer
sleeves of the gown
ended in a point and
featured swirling lace
and pearls.
The gown was trimm-
ed in matching lace and
swept into a lovely train.
To complete her ensem-
ble the bride wore a
designer headband with
a fingertip veil trimmed
in sweetheart lace and a
matching blusher. She
carried a bridal bouquet
of daisies, sweetheart
roses, babies breath and
greenery with a trailing
turquoise ribbon. Mel
ody wore a string of
pearls and carried a
hand-made handkerchief
of her great-grandmoth-
er’s.
The bride’s attendants
wore matching floor-
length gowns of tur-
quoise. The scoop neck
and fly-away sleeves
gave way to a fitted waist
which had a blouson
effect. The long pleated
skirts were adorned with
pale white flowers. They
carried baskets of silk
daisies and greenery.
Serving the bride as
matron of honor was Lisa
Petriskv of Carancahua.
Maid of honor was Jan-
ice Highberg ot Victoria.
Bridesmaids were Caryn
Maus of New Braunfels,
Veda Barron of San
Marcos and Peggy Keim
of San Antonio, sister of
the groom.
Serving as best man
was Abel Trevino of San
Antonio. Groomsmen
were Vic Chaney of
Lexington, Ky., Robert
Keim of Pittsburg. Pa.,
Rafael Baeza of Golden,
Co., and Steven Keim of
San Antonio, brother of
the groom.
Ushers for the occa-
sion were Michael May-
nard of Houston and
Michael Petrisky of Car-
ancahua.
Rhoda Penland. cou-
sin of the bride, regis-
tered the guests.
The mother of the
bride wore a formal
length turquoise chiffon
gown featuring a scoop
neck, a sheer chiffon
cape, an empire waist-
line and a long pleated
skirt. She wore a wrist
corsage of white daisies
and greenery.
The mother of the
groom wore a formal
length azure chiffon
gown featuring a scoop
neck and a sheer chiffon
cape trimmed in match-
ing lace with a high
neckline. She wore a
wrist corsage of white
daisies and greenery.
The bride’s table held
the three-tiered wedding
cake adorned with swirls
of daisies and lace, fresh
flowers, crystal punch
bowl and two silver
candelabras.
The groom's table
held a double ring Ger-
man chocolate cake, nuts
and mints and a silver
coffee server. The flower
arrangement from the
piano served to compli-
ment the groom’s table.
Members of the house
party were Shawn Tan-
ner of Edna, Rita Willi-
ams of Palacios, and
Sharon and Sarah Pen-
land of Palacios, cousins
of the bride.
Following a wedding
trip to Houston and
points west, they will
reside in San Marcos
where they will finish
college at Southwest
Texas State University
where both are majoring
in journalism.
REHEARSAL DINNER
A rehearsal dinner
was hosted by Maj. and
Mrs. Walter H. Keim,
the groom’s parents.
The dinner Was held
Friday, June 26 at Peter-
sen's Restaurant at 8:30
p.m. Approximately 30
guests enjoyed a lovely
steak dinner.
MISCELLANEOUS
SHOWER
A miscellaneous wed-
ding shower was given
Saturday, June 13, at
Weimar Hall in Palacios
for Melody Allen, bride-
elect of Roger Keim.
The honored guests,
Melody and her mother.
Mrs. Roy E. Allen, were
presented corsages of
daisies and babies
breath as they arrived.
Approximately 30 guests
watched as Melody o-
pened an array of lovely
and useful gifts.
The group then enjoy-
ed cake and punch serv-
ed from a table adorned
wivn a crystal punch
bowl and glasses, fresh
flowers and a lovely cake
made by Annie Dolezal
and Evelyn Capak.
The hostesses pre-
sented Melody with a
toaster oven. She pre-
sented her hostesses
with gifts of crystal bud
vases.
