Two teens injured
TWO PALACIOS teenagers walked away from this scene early Saturday morning.
Robbie Lewis, owner of the truck, was later Life-Flighted from Wagner General to
Hermann Hospital in Houston with head injuries. George Guitirrez, driver of the
truck, was treated and released at Wagner. The accident happened on Bay Shore
Blvd. just south of Peters' Yellow Windmill-the truck apparently was coming
from the north when it cut between the guarorail and Peters' property fence and
flew off the seawall. [Beacon photo by Michael Scheib]

PISD superintendent not an
applicant for Tom I nil I post
Contrary to reports circulating
through the community, Palacios
ISD Superintendent Dr. Bill
Reaves told the Palacios Beacon
last Friday that he has not applied
for the superintendent's position
with the Tomball ISD which be-
comes vacant at the end of the
school year.
Reaves, however, said that he
had been contacted about the va-
cancy by the Texas Association
of School Board's search com-
mittee which is seeking qualified
applicants for the post on behalf
of the Tomball ISD school
board. Reaves said that although
he had been contacted recently by
the search committee, he has not
had time to give it much con-
sideration.
"At this point, dial's it. I have
received an inquiry, but at this
point I'm not strongly consider-
ing the job and I definitely have
not made an application," said
Reaves, adding that he receives
several such inquiries a year. He
said that both he and his wife,
Linda, who is principal at East
Side Elementary, feel "we have
excellent jobs here and enjoy
being here."
According to a Tomball ISD
official, the district's current su-
perintendent is retiring at the end
of the school year. The district
official said applications for the
job arc being accepted through
the TASB search committee up
until Feb. 6 and she was uncer-
tain how many individuals had
applied thus far. The official
said a final decision would not
likely be made until the end of
February.
It's normal practice for the
TASB search committee to accept
all applications for such a post
and to also solicit applications
from top potential candidates.
After the application deadline
passes, the committee usually
screens the applications and nar-
rows the field to 10 or less top
applicants. Those applications
arc normally then submitted to
the school hoard which further
narrows the field and interviews
the finalists before making a final
decision.
Reaves, who as been Palacios
ISD superintendent since 1986,
had applied and been one of three
finalists for the vacant Clear Lake
ISD post back in June.
Concerning the Tomball ISD
position, Reaves said he too had
heard local rumors that he was
one of the finalists. He said he
was puzzled as to how they got
started considering he has not
