Unless Congress wakes up and does
those things that will restore confi-
dence and invite a sound recovery
in business, it seems highly probable
that very serious things awaii the
people of this country. The Presi-
dent has announced that he does not
propose to change his course: appar-
ently the nation can expect little gen-
uine help from that source. The prob-
lem now. therefore, is to awaken Con-
gress to a realization nf the present
menace. People should demand of
their Representatives and Senatn-w
that they cease plaving cheap poli-
ties, and do those things that will re-
store confidence and encourage a
sound business recovery. They should
be urged to cease their unwarranted
a’tarks on business men. to cut down
on government spending, to see that
public utilities receive a fair deal, to
see that both labor and employers
are treated equitably, to cease rati-
fying toe appointment to office of
distinctive radicals, to provide fair
and equitable taxation, to cease med-
dling with prices, to avoid price-fix-
ing. to stop legislating for pressure
groups, to curb inflation and to return
our currency to a gold bullion stand-
ard. to ston delegating powers and
giving blank checks to the President,
to return to principles of Constitu-
tional government, to stop trying to
