The family reunion of the
Martin Perry Cox decendents
was held Sunday June 9th at the
Playdium Picnic Grounds. Mrs.
Ella Luten of West and her
sister, Mrs. Vera Lester are the
last two living daughters of the
Cox’s , with the exception of
many neices and nephews.
About 65 came for the get
together. Towns represented
were Cleburne, Grandview, Ft.
Worth, Waco and West.
MRS. GAIDUSEK
HONORED
Mrs. Joe Gaidusek was
surprised last week on her
birthday by the ladies birthday
club.
Those present were Mrs.
Matilda Petter, Mrs. Vaclav
Bezdek, Mrs. W.A. Zatopek,
Mrs. Anton Zatopek of Mt.
Calm, Mrs. Joe Snokhous, Mrs.
Tony Kocian and Mrs. Irene
Kotrla.
All of her children also visited
with her on her birthday.

and Bobby of Ross, Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Clements and Mr.
and Mrs. Dan Wilson Pullin of
Waco, Mrs. Betty Ryno and Mr.

Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Fred

Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Paul
spent the weekend in Sommer-
ville. They were met there by
her daughter and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Jesse Reed, Ronnie
and Michael of Houston.
Cathy Gajdosik underwent leg
surgery in West Community
Hospital May 24 as a result of an
autc accident last March 11.
Cathy remained in the hospital
twelve days and is now at home
recuperating.
Kay and John Nichols of
Bedford are spending this week
with their grandmothers, Mrs.
Marie Jerabek and Mrs. Ches-
ter Nichols.
Mrs. Chester Nichols spent
last week in Texas City visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Jody Gaugler
and children.
Mr. and Mrs. Butch Littleton
and family of Houston spent the
weekend with his mother, Mrs.
Arthur Littleton and her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Pavelka and son.

Admitted to
Bar Association
On June 7 In Calgary, Al-
berta, Canada, Mr. Roderick
Vince O’Connor was admit-
ted to the Canadian Bar As-
sociation before Justice W.
Kenneth Moore. Mr. O’Con-
nor is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. B. O’Connor, Calgary,
and married to the former
Sandra Nemecek of West.
In the admitting ceremony,
Justice Moore recalled that
Mr. O’Connor is the third
generation of his family to
enter the legal profession.
His grandfathers, J. J. O’-
Connor and R. C. Bums,
were both Calgary barristers.
His father and uncle, Ches-
ter Burns, are practicing Cal-
garian lawyers.
Attending the ceremony
were members of his family
and Mr. and Mrs. Edward
Nemecek of West. Reception
that evening honoring Mr.
O’Connor was held at the
home of his parents.
Mr. O’Connor received his
B. A. degree and Doctorate
of Jurisprudence from St.
Mary’s University In San An-
tonio. He is a member of
McCaffery and Co. law firm
in Calgary.

Wins at Meeting
Thirty members of the
Junior KJZT No. 11, West,
attended the District meet-
ing in Hillsboro on June 9,
1974 The girls competed in
the Talent Contest and won
2 first place ribbons.
Amy Gerik, Karen Kuts-
cherousky, Teresa Laubert,
Karen Lednicky, Mary Ann
Meurer, Amy Rauschnber,
Carol Snapka, Sherri Snapka
and Jackie Zahlmlak re-
ceived a first place ribbon
for singing “New Life” in
the 6-8 year division.
A first place ribbon was
won in the 9-12 year division
for singing “Joy, Joy, Joy,"
"Battle Hymn of the Repu-
blic," "The Happy Wander-
er,” and “The Our Father.”
Girls participating in this
division were: Lisa Bezdek,
Amy Gerik, Sandra Hannes,
Laurie Kubacak, Monica Ku-
cora, Caroline Kutscherous-
ky, Karen Kutscherousky,
Mary Kutscherousky, Debbie

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ne-
mecek returned home Sun-
day from a visit in Calgary,
Alberta, Canada with their
daughter and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Rod O’Connor, Mrs. Ne-
mecek had been visiting
since May 12 following the
birth of her grandson, Sean.
Mr. Nemecek arrived June 5.
During their visit, they at-
tended Bar Admittance cere-
monies of their son-in-law
and the second birthday of
their granddaughter, Kelly.

Graduates
Edward Frank Hutyra was
among 55 students that
graduated with high hon-
ors from Tarrane County
Junior College during the
spring commencement.
Graduates of both the
Northeast and South Cam-
puses gathered at Will Rog-
ers Auditorium where Dr.
Joe B. Bushing, TCJC
(Chancellor, conferred de-
grees to students completing
requirements for Associate
of Arts degrees, Associate of
Applied Science degrees and
Certificates of Completion.
Dr. Julius O. Truelson, Supt.
of Fort Worth Public Schools
gave the commencement ad-
dress.
SISTER ROSEMARY
VISITS PARENTS
Sister Rosemary Lichnov-
sky spent last week visiting
her parents, friends and
other relatives here in West.
While here, Sister Rose-
mary, her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Lichnovsky, her
sister, Carolyn and daugh-
ters, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Sada, and Sister Adelaide
Sada of Brownsville, spent a
day at Six Flags.
During the summer she
will attend St. Mary’s Univ-
ersity, where she will begin
graduate studies in Religious
Education.
At the beginning of the
school year, she will be
transferred from Incarnate
Word Academy in Browns-
ville to Kingsville, where
she will be teaching at St.
Gertrude’s School.__
CURD OF THANKS

deep appreciation to all our friends and relatives
for their prayers and concern at the death of our
mother and grandmother,
Mrs. Anna Peters
who died May 29, 1974 at the age of 96.
