West Rest Haven News
By Georgia Murphy
Employees and residents of
West Rest Haven honored Mr.
Mark Barton with a surprise
party Thursday August 19, 1976
at 3 p.m. He was really
surprised as he thought he was
eoinR to help Mr. Miller to do
some work for Mrs. McCain. In
place of gifts he was presented
with a pretty money tree. The
serving table was decorated
with the money tree, punch,
cookies, pretty napkins, and
Miss Mary Sykora made a
lovely delicious cake. We will
all miss Mark as we learned to
love and respect him.
Minister Sam Armstrong and
members of the Church of
Christ held the services Thurs-
day night. Randy Cox and Mike
Stacy took a very active part in
the singing and leading the
singing. The service closed with
prayer.
Friday afternoon Bible Study
was an inspiration to us all. We
had Scripture readings, Bible
stories, beautiful poems. We
had a good discussion about
what had been read. The
devotional closed with prayer.
Won’t be long now until
Westfest and we can still use
some home canned beets,
pickles, relishes or any canned
vegetables, fruit or jelly.
Everybody get busy and help
us make this Westfest some-
thing to talk about. West is well
known so don’t let the visitors
down. Zona Mae Donohue-
826-5008 and Georgia Murphy-
826-3040; call us if you want us
to pick it up.
Mr. Frank Busby is back at
the rest home after a stay in
West Community Hospital, We
surely hope he will soon return
to teaching the Bible to us.
If you want to see how the
residents enjoy the afternoon
come at 2 p.m. for exercise.
Father Bill Benish was
celebrant for Mass on Saturday
morning. Mr. Leo Miller helps,
so does some of the young
people.

weeks with his grandparents
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neckar.
Miss Margie Willenborg was
honored with a miscellaneous
shower Sunday in Tours Hal!.
Tours parishioners will have
a booth where raffle tickets
will be available. These prizes
will be given away at Tours

Also sno-cones will be sold.
Last week Ben Schroeder told
Alphonse Weinberger he lost a
50 cent piece in the window sill
of a bedroom. The room located
on what once was the old
Weidemann Place next to
Weinbergers farm. Alphonse
went to look for it and found it
among the dust in the wall.
The odd thing about it was Ben
Schroeder lost it 53 years ago so
Ben has it once again. Also it
was the only room remaining of
the old home.
