Fine Arts CHAIR-ity Auction...

THE FINE ARTS ASSOCIATION OF THE HIM
COUNTRY CHAIR-ity Auction and Texas-Tuscan gour-
met picnic will be this weekend, from 4-7 p.m., Saturday,
Oct. 19, at the Robert Clay Vineyard. The food is being
prepared by some of the regions finest chefs, and the menu
will include wine by several wineries including Mason’s
own Sandstone Cellars. The vineyard is 10 miles west of
Mason, and the $20 tickets come with directions to this
easy-to-find location. All proceeds from the auction go to
the scholarship fund for graduating seniors. Tickets are being
sold at Mason Bank, The Thing Is and Market Square in
Mason. Unsold tickets will be available at the gate to the
entrance of the vineyard located at 2526 Streeter Lane off
of West Hwy 29. (In case of rain, the event will be moved
to the Richard P. Eckert Civic Center in Mason.)
BHS Interact Club to
host golf tourney Oct. 26
Brady High School Interact Club is hosting a golf tournament
on Saturday, Oct. 26, starting at 10 a.m. at the Brady Municipal
Golf Course.
The tourn ament will be an 18-hole scramble with a light meal
provided after the first nine holes. The tournament will consist
of three-man teams with fees of $50 per player.
"There will be a cash payout for the best-of-the-best," said
an event spokesperson. "There will be no refunds after Oct. 24
so we will know what to plan for. We are in hopes of a huge
turn out so that we can raise funds to donate to a charity of the
Interact members’ choice."

CTTC hosts 60th annual
membership meeting at
Mills County Civic Center
The annual membership meeting of the members of Central
Texas Telephone Cooperative, Inc. was held on Saturday, Oct.
5, at the Mills County Civic Center in Goldthwaite. To open the
meeting, Boy Scout Troop No. 77 posted the colors and led the
Pledge of Allegiance.
“The National Anthem” was sung by the Pausitive Band,
entertainment for the meeting. Ronnie Nowlin, director of the
Cooperative, gave the invocation.
The business meeting was conducted and followed by the
drawing of door prizes. Everyone was then treated to a fi sh fry
dinner prepared by the Mullin Volunteer Fire Department.
Central Texas would like to thank everyone for attending
this year’s annual membership meeting and for their continued
support of the Cooperative.
Next year’s annual membership meeting will be held in
Brady on Oct. 4,2014.

SAFETY AWARDS—Bobby Pearce (left) and
Warren Brown were the top two finalists from McCulloch
County in The Texas Department ofTransportation’s “Truck
Roadeo” safe driving competition. They represented their
county maintenance section in the district-wide Roadeo
held recently in Brownwood and competed against driv-
ers across the nine-county district. TxDOT sponsors the
Roadeo as part of its safety program. Drivers are tested
on several skills involving vehicle inspection, backing,
stopping, docking and other safe driving habits.
