Refugio Police Department Toy
Drive to be held Nov. 25-Dec. 20
REFUGIO - The Refugio Police
Department will sponsor the third
annual Toy Drive from Nov. 25 to
Dec. 20. Donated toys will be distrib-
uted to local area children.

Dollar General in Shay Plaza and
the Refugio Police Department, 601
Commerce Street.
All toy donations should be new,
unwrapped toys. Toys and games
are needed for all age groups, from
young children to teenaged children.
All area residents are encouraged to
participate.
Donated items can be dropped
Last year, toys were collected
and given out by members of the
Refugio Police Department, helping
30 local children enjoy the spirit of
Christmas.

is in need this Holiday Season, call

Joseph Perez recognized by CC Diocese
CORPUS CHRISTI - The
Diocese of Corpus Christi held its
annual Altar Server Recognition
Ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 17,
at the Corpus Christi Cathedral.
Among the many being honored
was Joseph Samuel Rey Perez, as
a Eucharistic Cross Bearer.
’Tis the season for Flix in the Park
REFUGIO - St. James
the Apostle Catholic
Church’s CCD Program
will host Flix in the Park,
showing a movie every
weekend until Christmas,
beginning Saturday, Nov.
30. Flix in the Park will
run for four weekends,
with movies starting at
6:30 p.m. at Kings Park,
located across from the
Courthouse.
Admission is free.
Bring your lawn chairs,
blankets and pillows. A
concession stand will be
provided with nachos,
popcorn, pickles, candy,
drinks and hot chocolate.
The movies are as follows:
Dec. 21: “Polar Express”
Come early to get a
snack from the concession
stand and a good seat.
Eucharistic Cross recipients,
both girls and boys, wear a red sash
and a Eucharistic cross attached to
a red cord. Joseph has held the
position of an altar server for Our
Lady of Refuge Church since he
was in the second grade.
On many occasions he has been
personally called upon by the
Diocese to attend special masses
to serve with both the Most Rev.
Bishop Michael Mulvey and Most
Rev. Bishop Emeritus Edmund
Carmody. Joseph is the son of
Sammy and Eliza Perez of Refugio.
