Team plays well at

tournaments
English, Riffe advance
By Geoff Baumgartner
For The Stonewall Courier
ASPERMONT — Aspermont’s varsity Golf team
competed in District Golf Tournament that was held in
Childress during the early part of April and the Regional
Tourney, which was held on April 14-15 in Baird.
The Lady Hornet team, which consists of Emilea
English, Kasidy Polk, Shayle Swink, Kloe Hale, and
Haley Dutchover, finished third overall. Emilea English
was fourth in the individual standings overall and
advanced to the Regional Tournament, as a medalist.
The Varsity Hornet team of Taylor Riffe, Trey Meador,
Cory Myers and Rope Bradley placed fourth overall.
Taylor Riffe shot an 86 to finish in a tie for second and
also advanced to the Regional Tournament.
Head Coach Josh Hale was proud with both the girls
and boys team for their extended efforts on the links.
“I was pleased with the effort they gave on the course,
especially that of English and Riffe, who each qualified
for their Regional Tournament,” Hale said.
Emilea and Taylor both competed on Monday and
Tuesday in the Regional Tournament held at the Shady
Oaks Golf Course in Baird directly east of Abilene.Taylor
shot an 87-89-176 and Emilea a 109-NS on Tuesday
due to an injury that limited her stroke play.
