about 2b years of age, was shot
and killed, the tragedy occurr-
ing at the home of his brother-
in-law, Newman Plat, this morn-

from a pistol, the third one en-
tering Richards’ body below the

depot helper at Lorena. He was
arrested. When Justice Dawson
A. Walker and Duputy Sheriff
Alva Hatch arrived at Lorena

Justice Walker fixed the amount
at $500. and it was promptly
signed by responsible sureties.
The bond was given for his ap-

A REMARLABLE FREAK.
Mr. R. R. Duncan, who lives
on Hillsboro Rural Route No. 6,
has on exhibition in the Mirror
office a most remarkable freak of
the swine species, it being a pig
with two well-developed bodies
connected at the shoulder, and
eight legs and feet but only one
head. It was littered some two
weeks ago jmd when found by
Mr. Duncan shortly afterward,
was dead. He has it preserved
in alcohol and it can be seen at
this office.—Hillsboro Mirror.
Austin, Tex., Dec. 14,—In the
court of criminal appeals today,
the state filed a motion to dis-
miss the apjieal in the B. B.
Myatt case, from Falls county.
Myatt is the prisoner under
death sentence who escaped
from the Corsicana jail and for
whose arrest the governor has
offered a reward of $500. Myatt
was given the death penalty for
the murder of his wife and a life
sentence for the murder of the
family servant. He committed
the crime in Robertson county,
was tried in Falls county for j
murder of his wife and in
Navarro county for murder of a j
family servant, and was in the j
Corsicana jail when he made his!
escape. «■
Under the statutes, an appeal
is dismissed when a prisoner
makes his escape and does not
voluntarily return. It is expect
ed the court of criminal appeals j
will grant the motion to dismiss
the appeal, and that if Myatt is
then recaptured he will bo I
■ hanged as soon as the trial judge
fixes the date of the execution,
as he has forfeited all right to
have his appeal considered. A
vigorous hunt is being made for
Myatt.

WIFE CHASE HUSBAND FROM
HOUSTON TO HILLSBORO.
Hillsboro, Tex., Dec. 13.—Yes-
terday morning Sheriff E. M.
Cox received a telephone mes-
sage from the sheriff’s office in
Houston asking him to arrest
and hold R. B. Wright, who it
was stated, had left his wife in
that city taking with him their
child, a boy about 18 months old
and who it was supposed had
come to this countv.
Sheriff Cox was informed that
the Harris County sheriff held a
warrant for Wright, based on a
complaint involving the charge
of wife abandonment, and that
he would probably be found in
Whitney. After talking with
officers in Whitney over tele-
phone Sheriff Cox ascertained
that Wright was at the home of
his father in Woodbury commun-
ity, and nroceeded there yester-
day afternoon, found the father
and child. He brought the two
back to town with him and the
wife arrived here from Houston
this morning. The two held a
conference in the private office
of Sheriff Cox this morning, dur-
ing which their differences were
reconciled and they agreed
to share equally in their interest
in the baby and to resume their
maritial relations and obli-
gations. ^
The husband was released up-
on nominal terms of security for
his appearance to answer the
complaint pending against him
in Houston, which it is expected
will be dismissed.
Mr. and Mrs. Wright are both
quite young and he was reared
in this county, but recently
been living in Houston. He ar-
rived here over the Katy railroad
Monday, later going out to his
home in Woodbury.
