Boggs
run
2nd term
Johnson County Sheriff Eddy
Boggs has announced his intent
to run for a second term as
sheriff.
Boggs has been sheriff for the
past four years.
"As our county continues to
grow, our law enforcement
needs grow and change," Boggs
said. "During the last four years I
have worked to professionally
upgrade all levels of olir law en-
forcement program."
Before Boggs became sheriff,
the lifetime resident of Johnson
County was a uniformed officer
and detective with the Dallas
Police Department for 13 years. He
has received the advanced certifi-
cate from the Texas Commission
of Law Enforcement Office Stan-
dards and Education and has
taken additional courses in youth
offenses, contemporary social
problems, and accident investi-
gation.
Boggs’ record, and reason for
his campaign slogan—"Proven
ability for positive leadership”—
includes the following highlights
—The successful capture of Amy
McNeil's kidnappers in January
of 1985.
— Breaking up a major drug
organization when he helped the
Pike Thsk Force in 1985.
—Breaking up a major ring for
stolen merchandise and drugs at
BJ’s TVash and Treasure in
Operation Yellowjacket in Sep-
tember 1987.
—Helping organize the new
Johnson County Law Enforce-
ment Center.
—Being personally involved in 70
drug busts. * •
-And building a staff respected
by the county, state, and federal
officials.

working to protect each resi-

help, we will stay ready to meet
the challenges Johnson County
faces.”

developments.
Stalcup said they are planning
to develop 117 lots on 63 acres of
land, with lot sizes to be between
one third and one half acre
each.
That’s considerably less than
the one acre, required by the
county when separate septic
tanks are installed for each
lot.
"Our approval from the county
was only dependent on our get-
ting the water permit. We’ve got
that permit now and we’re going
ahead with Mandalay,” said
Stalcup. He estimated that the
controversy for the past two
years will have cost him "an ad-
ditional $250,000-$300,000 when
all is concluded.
