Founders Day lunch with Comanche
The next meeting will he held at

p.m. Jan. 10.
Interested persons arc invited to
attend. To qualify for membership,
applicants must prove lineal descent
from an ancestor who resided in
Texas prior to Feb. 19, 1848.
Tonya Meschelle Cook and Terry Blaine Dobson Jr. were married
Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Cross Tinkers Church of Christ in
Stephenville. Tonya is the daughter of Gerald and Elizabeth Cook of
Dublin. Terry is the son of Betty and Jerry Hollifield and Terry and
Meg Dobson Sr. of Stephenville. Attendants were Lori Montieth and
Cart Landes of Stephenville. The couple will reside in Stephenville.
Bosque River Chapter, Daughters
of the Rqxtblic of Texas, held its
November meeting in the home of
Virginia Taylor in Stephenville with
Anna Ree Stephens serving as co-
hostess.
Members finalized plans to join
the Comanche Chapter DRT at the
Merry Heart Tea Room in Gran bury
for their Founders Day Luncheon
with the theme of Women of the Df. King presents
Republic as the program for Tlic
Cradle.
Martha Shackelford presented die
program, “A Second Term” from
“Sword of San Jacinto - A Life of
Sam Houston."
The nominating committee, hea-
ded by Catherine Randolph, met
after the regular meeting to select
candidates for office for 1995-97.
The Daughters of the Republic of
Texas recently commemorated the
103rd anniversary of the founding
of the Daughters of the Republic of
Texas and honored co-founders
Betty Ballinger and Hally Bryan
Perry with festivities at the Cradle
and re-dedication of the DRT grave
marker for Miss Ballinger in Gal-
veston in early November.
The Republic of Texas Museum
DRT recently honored the memory
of Gov. Miriam Ferguson at the
State Cemetery in Austin.
Present were Virginia Taylor,
Mrs. Stephens, Mrs. Randolph,
Helen McCullough, Mrs. Shackel-
ford, Lorena Sparkman and Mar-
garet Neves.
Garden Club’s tour features
three homes, one business
This year's Tour of Homes, sponsored by tire Dublin Garden Club, will
feature three homes and one business.
The tour is set for 2 to 4 pan. Sunday, Dec. 11. Homes may be toured at
•casirc with tickets available at each location for $5 each.
Featured on the tour will be Cafe Trifles, 112 1/2 N. Patrick and the
homes of Charles and Sara Harris, 352 N. Grafton, Dr Marilyn Brister and
Carl Adams, 509 N. Patrick and Marjc and Diane Kloster, 110 Scenic Dr.
Refreshments will be served at Cafe Trifles.

Tickets are going fast for the
Glen Rose Bed and Breakfast
Christmas Tour Dec. 10. Visitors
will tour five beautiful bed and
breakfasts, all decked out for the
holidays. Complimentary home-
made desserts will be served at one
of the locations.
A guided bus tour stops at each
location. Buses will depart from
downtown Glen Rose at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $7
Dec. 10 if seating is still available.
Tickets for the bus tour may be
purchased at Glen Rose Emporium
and Stephenville Bank and Trust.
Bus four will take approximately
(wo hours and you must present
ticket to board bus1.
The five featured bed and break-
fasts are Inn On the River (a
historical landmark), Hummingbird
Lodge, Popejoy Haus, Bussey's
Something Special and Wild Rose
Inn.
This tour is in conjunction with
"Christmas on the Square”, a yearly
event featuring downtown open
house, carolers, outdoor lighted
tree, Santa and lighted Christmas
parade.
This event, a Glen Rose Main
Street Project, is in cooperation
with Glen Rose Area Bed and
Breakfast Association, Glen Rose
Historic Downtown Association
and Glen Rose/Somervell County
Chamber of Commerce.

available every Wednesday at Perry
Hall from 10 a.in. to 4 p in. by

ber of Commerce.

Dublin National Bank was elected
treasurer.

“cookbook history”
to DAR chapter
The November meeting of the
Teha Lanna Chapter Daughters of
the American Revolution was held
at die Stephenville Historical House
Museum.
Ivy Lou Cleveland gave a
memorial for Opal Cunyus, reading
from Psalms 147. Mrs. Cunyus was
a longtime member of the Teha
Lanna Chapter who died in Novem-
ber.
The program, "A Pinch of Pride:
A Cookbook History of Stephen-
ville," was presented by Dr.
Richard King. He told how the
book came about and why he
combined recipes with history. Dr.
King was presented the nationally
recognized History Award Medal
from the Teha Lanna Chapter.
Present were Charlene Moser,
Faye Howard, Maye Ellison, Lillie
Farley, Mrs. Cleveland, Melinda
Hammonds, Merry Cowan, Launa
Purvis, Dorothy Depcw and Mary
Kate Durham of Granbury’s Eliza-
beth Crockett Chapter DAR, and
Winifred Guerry, mother of Mrs.
Hammonds.
The next meeting will be Jan. 18
at 2 p.m. at 1147 W. Frey in
Stephenville.
B&PW MEETING
The monthly business meeting of
the Cross Timbers Business and
Professional Women’s Club meets
each first Tuesday at the Holiday
Inn for lunch. If you are interested
