Banks, public offices and most
stores reportedly will bo closed
on that day, and the post office
will be on the regular holiday-

Pipe Lines Are

Highway 1
The work order on the construc-
tion of the section of F’arm-to-Mar-
krt highway 1822 from Highway 59
near Grand Motel in Edna to near
the. United Gas booster station
south of town is being held up
temporarily while negotiations g o
forward on the removal of gas
pipe lines along the proposed right-
of-way,
The situation now is becoming
alarming, what with thc start of
work by Heldcnfels Bros schedul-
ed for November 15, but today no
definite action had been taken.
United Gas is believed to be the
principal offender at this time, it
was divulged at a meeting at the
Courthouse Monday with a right-of-
way official of the gas firm Other
pipe line companies have come to
a tentative agreement with the
county in the removal or deepen-
ing of their lines across the right-
of-way.
United Gas, which has a large
booster station near the proposed
road, has several thousand feet of
various sizes of pipe lines to be
moved. The company has informed
the county officially it will move
all its lines in the old right-of-way,
but must ask the county to pay for
thc labor in moving the lines in
the new right-of-way. This cost is
estimated at over $30,000-
United Gas officials now are con-
sidering the possibility of splitting
the cost with the county, but no
definite word had been received
this afternoon.
Meanwhile, local officials are
hopefuls something can be worked
out so actual work can begin this
month N
