Mrs. J. E. Condra returned
home Sunday afternoon after
a long stay in Ft Worth follow-
ing an automobile accident
there. The nurse who has been
caring for her in Ft. Worth came
home with her and is now taking
care of her at home 'her.
Mrs. Condra has been at the
home -of her son for the past
three weeks'. She spent nearly
eight weeks in the hospital and
is still confined to her home.
Mrs. Condia is reported as do-
ing nicely after her trip home.
Mrs. W. H. Buchanan of Jar-
rell mother of Mrs. Condra is
visiting her this week.

Survey Of Sewer
System To Begin
Weil. Sept. 7
Acceptance by the engineering
company of the city's contract
to survey and map the Bartlett
Sewer "System and make an esti-
mate on .the cost of rebuilding
and extending the system was
announced this week by Mayor
R. W. Miller.
The contract was made with
the Municipal Engineering fin-
ance Corporation of Dallas who
agree to begin work here Sep-
tember 7th.

Four O'Daniel favorites won
and two lost in the 'second pri-
mary election Saturday. Steven-
son Giles Critz and Graves sel-
ected by O'Daniel were nomin-
ated. Mann and 'Sadler who did
not receive the 0!Daniel nod
won over Woodul and Terrell.
Williamson County voted like
the rest of the state giving ma-
jorities .to the winners. Bell
County gave Pierce Brooks a
majority over Stevenson and in
the rest of the state races pre-
ferred the winning candidates.
In the flotolrial representa
tives race in Bell Falls and Mc-
Lennan counties Gene Mc-
Namara won over Lee Madden
although Madden received a
large vote in Bell County.
In Williamson' County Stiles
Byrom won over Henry Pum-
phrey in the district clerk's race ;
Robert Stoll defeated Gordon E.
Burks for Williamson County
representative and C. L. Allen
defeated Luke Mankin in the
race for flotorial representative
from Williamson and Burnet
counties.
Commissiomer J. J. Bucek was
returned to office winning over
Milsted A. Bird in the race for
commissioner of precinct No. 3.
(Clyde Frazer defeated W. J.
Pope in the race for Justice of
the Peade Precinct No. 2 Wil-
liamson County.
Complete returns art all coun-
ty races and enough state re-
turns to indicate the trend of

Lutheran Announced
A. Splittgerber Struck
By Car Tuesday
A. Splittgerber was knocked
down by an automobile on main
street near Adolph's Cafe Tues-
day afternoon and narrowly es-
caped serious injury. Three
stitches were taken in his scalp
and he was able to return home
soon after the accident.
Mrs. George Irvin driver- of
the car which struck Mr. Splitt-
gerber stated3 that she did not see
him step into the street because
of a truck parked on the south
side of the street and another
truck backing out on the north
side of the street.
Witnesses believed that the
truck may 'have attracted the at-
tention of both just at the mo-
ment of the accident.

Marfran's defeat of Friend

schedule. Marfrans Friendship

Playoff games are being ar-
ranged to decide the champion-

Saturday Night
Two colored men innocent by-
standers were accidently in-
jured Saturday night when a
third resisted arrest on main
street near Bridge's Market.
Constable Price who was

to use as a club if necessary and'

Methodists Return
To Regular Fall
Schedule. Sunday
Services at the Methodist
Church will return t6 the regu-
lar schedule of hours Sunday
Rev. C P. Jones pastor stated
today.
Sunday School will begin at
9:45 a m. preaching at 10:50
and the evenincr service at 7:45.
Communion services will be
held Sunday morning.
Rev. Jones has planned a ser-
ies of services on "Loyalty to
the Church" for September. The
introductory sermon of the ser-
ies will be. Sunday morning.

ganization of the Sunday School
and the selection of officers and;
teachers for the year beginning

at St. John's Lutheran Church
next Sunday at 10:30 A. M.
The Sunday School will begin at

The Luther League will meet
this. Sunday evening at 8:00
o'clock. The various committees
asked to collect funds among
the young people of the church

German services will be held
on the second Sunday in Septem
ber. On the afternoon of that
Sunday at 2:30 o'clock a special
-meeting of the voting members
of St. John's Congregation will
be held to determine the attitude
of the members towards the call
which the pastor of St. John's
recently received to become the
pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran
Church at Brenham.
On the third Sunday in Sept-
ember there will be no .service
at St. John's the pastor having
been asked to speak at the Misr
sion Festival of the congrega
tions at Coryell and Crawford.
On the fourth Sunday in Sep
tember St. John's will celebrate
its -annual Mission Festival with
a German Service in the mora-
ine a Mixed Service in the after
noon and an English Service at
night. Rev. A. D. Rode of Taylor
has kindly consented to be the
English speaker and Rev. zon

speaker.

Bartlett students will begin

Monday morning when Bartlett
Schools open for the 1938-39 ses-
sion. High school students will
report Friday afternoon Juniors
and Seniors at 1 p. m. and Fresh-
men' and Sophomores at 2:30.
Grammar school students will
report Monday morning at 9:00
o'clock.
School will be in session for
only a shor.t period Monday

Woodrow Heinsohn

Death claimed Mrs. Woodrow
Heinsohn of Houston former
resident of Bartlett at her home
Monday after an illness of ten.

Mrs. Heinsohn 26 was the
daughter of Joe Barabas Sr. of
the Bartlett community and
made her home here until about
.three years ago. She was mar-
ried about four years ago. ' ' .

Funeral services were at the
home of her father Tuesday
morning at 9 o'clock and at the
Granger Catholic Church at 10
o'clock. Interment was in the
Granger Catholic cemetery.
