New Arrival
SALE - First United Methodist Church will be having their big, annual sale for Christmas items and other odds & ends this Saturday at the Methodist
parsonage, 504 N. Patrick from 8-6. Its called a one day, inside-outside sale.
Dublin residents have on week to seek lower elctric
the best price. If PEP can get a lower
price for a two-year contract than a
one-year contract then it will give
everyone that indicates an interest in
PEP that choice. PEP wants a
contract term that makes sense,
whether its one or a few years.
Whatever way it goes, you'll have
choices along the way.
What if I eventually go with
the electric provider selected by
PEP and the power goes out? Will
my power be restored just as quickly
as if I had stayed with my original
provider? Yes. You will see
absolutely no change in the
reliability of your service as a result
of changing electric providers. This
is because your electric service is
actually handled by two separate
companies. You purchase your
electricity from a Retail Electric
Provider. PEP is negotiating the
lowest available price for electricity
from all Retail Electric Providers
that serve this area It is your local
wires company that delivers the
electricity you purchase from the
Retail Electric Provider to your
home. It is the local wires company
and not the Retail Electric Provider
that is responsible for restoring
power when your lights go out and
maintaining the poles and wires in
your area. You will continue to
receive the same reliable service you
are used to with your local wires
company, regardless of which Retail
Electric Provider you choose.
Who can join the program?
PEP is only available to those
residents living within die city limits
of Dublin. If you receive power from
a co-op or reside outside the city, you
are ineligible to join the program.
If s easy to indicate interest in the
People's Electricity Program, and
there's no cost in doing so.

You must respond before the
Nov. 9 deadline to let PEP and the

Many Dublin residents have
already enthusiastically joined their
neighbors to enable the city to
negotiate better electricity prices
with power providers through the
People's Electricity Program (PEP),
but organization officials say many
people probably still have questions
on how the program works.
"We're off to a good start in
informing people about this
innovative program and we are
happy to continue to provide
answers to questions they may
have," said Geoffrey Gay, a People's
Electricity Program organizer.
The program asks City of Dublin
residents to sign up to pool their
electricity demand in order to let the
city seek lower prices by purchasing
electricity in bulk. However, the
program will only go forward if
enough residents show interest in the
program by Nov. 9.
Officials at the People's
Electricity Program are offering
these answers to the most common
questions they are receiving:
What happens when I sign up
now? By signing up, you are
indicating interest in die program
and are under no obligation to
participate in a final contract Once
the People's Enetgy Program knows
how much interest there is from the
number of people who sign up,
they'll work with energy suppliers to
find lower prices than what you're
paying now. If the price is low
enough, PEP will contact you with a
solid, written offer for you to review
and decide upon, probably before
the end of the year.
If PEP is able to get me a lower
price, how long would the
contract be? Honestly, PEP won't
know how long the contract term
will be until it completes
negotiations with power providers.
A typical contract term is one year,
but PEP will be focused on getting

The Friends of the Library met
Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Clay
Room. Those attending were:
LaNell Hamilton, Kathy Logan,
Hilda Underwood, Judy Lunsford,
Suzarm Thompson, Eva and Ella
Frederick, Kipling McFarland,
Betty Culpepper, Sandra Thomas,
and Courtney Kincaid.
There was also a discussion of
officers and their duties. The
president, Jeanne Stovall will not be
the President this year. There are
many positions that need to be filled
and so the election of officers will be
held November 3, Saturday, at the
next Friends meeting. This meeting
will be in the Clay room in the
library at 2 p.m.
We are trying diligently to
increase the membership and
effectiveness of this very important
organization in our community. An
effort to reach many of our library
patrons through a fundraising letter
is in the works. There is a bazaar
tentatively planned for November
16 & 17.
Volunteers are needed to help
with the bazaar both in manning the
event and donating items. Anyone
who has an extra set of glasses, a
spare vase, craft items, or would be
willing to bring baked goods should
contact the library at
dublin.libraiy@ci.dublin.tx.us or
445-4141.
November 12-18 will be
National Children's Library Week.
The Dublin youngster who can
guess the number of books in the
library will receive a prize. In fact,
the second and third closest guesses
will be awarded as well! Drop by
the library and look around; how
many books are in there?
Yearly dues for the Friends of the
Library run $15 per person, $25
couple, and $50 for a business. The
sole purpose of this group is
supporting the Dublin Library Board
and the City of Dublin in the
continued growth and improved
quality of our local library and the
services that it offers the community.
Membership is open to anyone
interested in contributing time and
talents to the facility to make it the
very best it can possibly be!
One idea that has surfaced
several times, but has never gotten
started is a book club. A number of
people have mentioned to the library
staff that they are interested in this
notion, but someone or a couple of
people are needed to begin the
organization process and set up the
first meeting. With all the different
interests of our library "regulars,"
there is room for more than one
group. Those open to the suggestion
simply need to find out who has
common preferences and set a time
to get together.
If this idea sounds good, drop by
the library and talk to Sandra,
Beverly, or Courtney. Leave name,
contact information, and preferred
type of book. Surely by our next
Friends meeting in January the book
club or clubs can be a reality, up and
going!
There are already a couple of
ways in place to make monetary
contributions. Donations for $25 or
more can be made for a book to be
placed in memory or in honor of
someone. Donating to the library's
general fund can also be made.
Either way, the library staff sends a
donation card to the person or family
being acknowledging.
The bricks that line the walkway
can be purchased for $125. This is
another special and lasting memorial
for a friend or loved one or to honor
a birthday, anniversary, or some
other special occasion.
