Slides, filmstrips and guest lec-
turers will supplement weekly
classroom sessions and on De-
comber 26 the group will travel
together for a ten day visit to
Greece and Israel. While in the
Holy Land one will visit histor-
lca' sites in the ageless city of
Jerusalem and will travel to such
Places as Bethlehem. Jericho
'oldest walled city in the world),
Nazareth; Capernaum and Tiber-
ias, to mention only a few. A
trip to the Dead Sea, the Qum-
ran area (now famous because
of the Dead Sea Scrolls) and a
boat ride on the Sea of Galilee
are among things listed on the
agenda. ®
In Athens and Corinth one vis-
its the Acropolis, the Parthenon,
Mars Hill, ancient temples and
sites of some of the world's
greatest philosophers and teach-
ers. "Total cost of the trip, in-
cluding travel from New York
to New York, all food and lodg-
ing will be $699.
The course will be open to all
students and may be taken either
as a three hour elective or count-
ed toward the Bible require,
ment. It is, however, permis-
sable to take the course for
credit without going on the trip.

tact, Dr. Ballard for further de-
tails.

are other activities planned for
the one-day convention. It will
begin with registration and a
period for students, executives
and educators to mingle with one
another.
During the conference the at-
tending students and instructors
will have a chance to see the
best television commercials of
1971. There will also be awards
given to the marketing execu-
tive of the year. This year the
winner was Mr. John Justin, Jr.,
President of Justin Boot Co., and
and former mayor of Fort Worth.
Miss Edith Hudson, DE Co-
ordinator, retired from the Fort
Worth Independent School Dis-
trict will receive the 1972 Spe-
cial Recognition Award.
At noon the group will have a
special lunch at Shakey's Pizza,
sponsored by the SPEA.
Another part of the program
includes the Senior Marketing
cla^R of TWC will take their
final /('xams during the confer-
ence.) At the end" of the ses-
sions\««e deserving student will
receive a $500 Tandy Scholar-
ship t<\ be presented by Mr. Jim
Westr Prudent of Tandy Cor-
poration.
The Marketing Myopia is the
work of Mr. Jack Deegan, busi-
ness administration professor at
TWC. Mr, Deegan recently spoke
to the Rotary Club of Fort Worth
at the Sheraton-Fort Worth on
the subject "Cooperatipn Be-
tween Business and the Univer-
sity."

Texas Wesleyan Rambler was
named the second best small col-
lege newspaper in the state at
th6 Texas Intercollegiate Press
Association convention last week
in McAllen.
David Madison won the only
individual award for TWC with
a third place for his short story,
"The Dancer." The TXWECO
struck out and received no
awards.
Representing TWC at the "con-
vention were Bobbi Casey, next
year's annual editor, Steve Hitch-
cock. publications staff photog-
rapher, and John Gerdel, Jr.,
Rambler editor next fall.
Mr. & Miss TWC
Chosen by Students
During the Mr. and Miss TWC
dance the announcement was
made as to who won the honors
of the contest sponsored by the
1972 TXWECO. The top honors
of Mr. and Mrs. Texas Wesleyan
College went to Miss Melinda
Prillaman and Mr. Walter Smith.
First runners-up were Miss
Julie Culepepper and Mr. Bob
Carter with second runner-up
being Miss Susan Watson and
Mr. Lynn Miller.
The announcements were made
at the annual dance held April 15
by Nancy Montague, "editor of
the TXWECO.
In addition! to frequent trips
to Mexico, thi| trio attended sev-
eral workshop1 sessions and swap-
ped ideas with other school pub-
lication staffs,
Mr. Carl Schrader, Associate
professor of English, accompa-
nied the student trio to the con-
vention.
Capt. Kraus To Visit
Campus for OTS
Captain David Kraus, Air Force
Officer Training School represen-
tative will be conducting inter-
views with interested applicants
on April 27 at TWC in the Stu-
dent Center.
Openings have recently been
announced by the Air Force to
accept nearly 1400 pilot and nav-
igator applications between now
and July 1st, 1972. There is also
a continuing need for women of-
ficers to fill positions ranging
from Education and Administra-
tion to Meteorology.
Captain Kraus will be available
to talk with each applicant con-
cerning the OTS program and
appointments are not necessary.
The Air Force program includes
new higher salaries, paid benefits,
travel and educational opportuni-
ties.

Mrs. Wilcox Named As
Educator Of The Year

Highlight of the Faculty Dinner
April 14 was the naming of Mrs.
Elnora Wilcox, associate profes-
sor of biology, as Educator of
the Year.
The award, the first of its kind,
was presented to Mrs. Wilcox by
Terry Campbell, president pf the
Student Association, the organi-
zation responsible for polling the
student body and determWing the
winner.
The Dinner, given by Texas
Wesleyan College President Wil-
liam Pearce and the Faculty Club,
hosted approximately 175 guests
in the ballroom of Colonial Coun-
try Club. Alumnus Bill Green
provided dinner music at the
piano.
Dean Birney Gross gave the
benediction, and Dr. Pearce gave
a short speech. Dr. Charlie Nich-
ols, president of the Faculty Club,
introduced those seated at the
head table and those in charge of
arrangements for the Dinner.
The Educator of the Year A-
ward is only one of many awards1
for Mrs. Wilcox since she came
Jo TWC in 1942. Among her many
honors are the National Science
Fellowship Award. Distinguished
Alumnus of TVVC. and listing in
the 1970 edition of Outstanding
Educators of America and Who's
Who of American Women.
