Chanek - Foster set date
Clayton Wade Chanek and Brenna Kathleen Foster of Ganado
announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage. The
bride-elect is the daughter of Kirk and Peggy Foster of Pea
Ridge, Ark. and Tina Shook of Bentonville, Ark. She graduat-
ed from Bentonville High School in Bentonville, Ark. and is
employed in quality control for Greenleaf Nursery of El
Campo. The prospective groom is the son of Toney and Janet
Chanek of Ganado. He graduated from Texas State Technical
College in Waco with an Associates Degree in aircraft pilot
training. He is employed as an oilfield gauger for Chanek
Contracting in Ganado. The couple will exchange vows at
3:30 p.m. on April 30, 2011 at the Historic Texana Church at
Brackenridge Park in Edna.

Greene places at pageant
Avery Greene of Inez was crowned second runner up at the
Miss Texas Teen Pageant in San Antonio on March 12 and 13.
Greene was also named Most Photogenic and the Contestants’
Choice, which is voted on by the other contestants. The 16-
year-old daughter of Wayne and Jackie Lejune is a junior at
Industrial High School. She will compete in the Miss America
Outstanding Teen later this year.

Smidovec - Neumann to wed
Larry and Diane Smidovec of Garwood announce the engage-
ment and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jerica
Smidovec of Garwood, to Joey Neumann of Ganado, son of
Jimmy and Diane Neumann of Ganado. The bride-elect grad-
uated from the University of Houston-Victoria and is
employed as a fourth grade teacher at El Campo ISD. The
prospective groom is employed by L&P Pipeline in Ganado.
The couple will exchange vows at 2 p.m. on May 14, 2011 at
St. Phillips Catholic Church in El Campo.

Members of TX XI Alpha
Delta Delta met at the home
of Sandra Ray on March 10
with nine members present.
Plans were made to tour
the castle in Bellville on
April 3 with members meet-
ing at Walmart.
Margaret Woodring moved
to keep the slate of officers
for the next year so Lois
Woodring will again serve as
president, Alice Figirova,
vice president; Doris Andel,
treasurer; and Mary Sheblak,
secretary.
The group decided to
award two-$500 and two-
$250 scholarships to students
and to give $300 to the Edna
Fire Department and $200
towards the Sheriff’s Office
Christmas gift fund.
Members will vote on
Woman of the Year and
Program of the Year at the
April meeting which will be
held in the home of Alice
Figirova.
