Season stats show
individual highs
With 21 of the season's 28 garner-over, it's
interesting to look back.at some of'the basket-
ball statistics. Not including Tuesday's game
the Hams have a 7-13 overall mark for the
season.
That mark is a reflection of the 70.9 per
game average the team shows while opponents
have scored at an 80.7 clip.
Individual high marks for one game are
dominated by Eddie Wright. Wright, in the
game against Bishop, burned the net for a
season high 28 points on another season high
mark 13 ofv19 field goals. Wright also pulled
down 18 rebounds in that game to claim an-
other season one game record.
In free throws in one game, Phil McNeely
was top man by dropping 10 of 11 from the
charity line in the January 18 Texas Southern
game. „
The season statistic? show that three of
the roundballers have a .500 or better shoot-
ing percentage on field goals. Mike Wick-
man, who has appeared in 8 games this season,
has hit on 16 or 30 from the floor to lead the
team with a .533 shooting percentage.
Mike Pftte is hitting a .516 pace with 33 of
64 in 16 games. Eddie Wright, in 20 games
this season, has hit an even .500 mark on 132
of 264 two-pointers. „
Off the charity line, Jack Tidwell sports a
perfect l.O(K) marie on 3 of 3. Ken Harper has
no problem converting as his ,,.917 mark re-
flects 22 of 24 freebies. Phil McNeely is hit-
ting the free throws at a .792 pace on 38 of 48.
Just three percentage points behind is Brian
Cornstock who has hit 30 of 38 for a .789
mark.
The rebounding averages again find Wright
on top with a 10.8 per game average. Alvin
Scott has pulled down 6.6 in the 10 games he
has played in this year.
The season game averages once more fynd
Wright as the high man with a 14.9.»scoring
average. Skip Greathou.se, now out for the
season, was scoring at a 14.0 clip before being
sidelined. Scott is next on the scoring list with
a 9.2 average while Comstock's 8.6 pace is
next in line while rfarper and Randy Blevins
have 7.5 and 7.3 averages, respectively.

Tarleton downs Rams;
team plays DBC Tues.
by Torn Hatfield
Rambler Sports Editor
The Ram roundballers journeyed to Tarle-
ton State College for a basketball encounter
last Wednesday and brought along some fem-
inine accompaniment both on the court and
off. Along with the men went the Women's
basketball team coached by Dr. Ed Olson.
They were not enough help as the men were
downed by a 63-82 count and the girls were
scalped In their season opener 27-67.
Thtvlead was exchanged back and forth
in the first half before the Tarleton Texans
jumped out to a nine point lead on four fast
field goals. The Texans continued to extend
their lead on break away lay ups and coasted
to a 25-39 halftime lead.
The teams exchanged shots at the onset
of the second stanza before Mike Pate drop-
ped two of two from the free throw line with
11:24 left to begin a ten point streak for the
Rams. The barrage brought the lead to a
45-55 mark with 8:00 left, the closest of the
second half.
Once again the Texans found the range
(one, a controversial dunk shot) and began
once again to pull the game out of reach.
Eddie Wright layed up two at the buzzer to
finalize the score at 63-82.
In dropping to a 7-13 record the Rams
were paced by Wright with 15 points, while
two of the other starters, Brian Comstock and
Alvin Scott, added 10 each.
Women's results
The Women's basketball tetftn opened their
season with a pre-game twinbill against the
Tarleton Texans. The girls were hit by a sec-
ond quarter scoring barrage and wound them-
selves down by a 12-29 margin at the half.
Nancy Watson swished the net for a team
high 15 points but could not help as the
Texans continued to streak to their 27-67 vic-
tory. Nancy-Aiias followed in the scoring circle
by Becky Laminack'with 5, Rayla Allison with
3 and Susie Canafax and Diane Willingham
with 2 each.
The girls played in a scrimmage last Sat-
urday then played Ranger Junior College last
Tuesday and have a 1:00 p.m. tipoff scheduled
against SMU in Dallas tomorrow and home
doubleheader with the men's team next Tues-
day.
