Teltschik pledge vows
Birthdays and Anniversaries
Kayla Marie Kallus and
Wesley Lamar Teltschik of
Edna exchanged double ring
vows at 3 p.m. on Dec. 1,
2012 at St. Agnes Catholic
Church in Edna with the Rev.
Michael Petering officiating.
The bride is the daughter of

Wooden boxes and wicker
baskets of fresh cut sunflow-
ers were placed throughout
the sanctuary. A basket of
yellow roses and sunflowers
were placed in memory of the
bride and groom’s relatives.
Clusters of sunflowers and
moss green ribbon adorned
the pews.

vided by organist Paulette
McElveen and soloist Dee
Darilek. Selections included

The New Year for the
Daughters of the Republic of
Texas began on Jan. 8.
President Roberta Brieden
welcomed the 14 members.
Bobbie Brune gave the
Goliad. Each year the
Chapters are presented with
two topics for students to
write essays on, and the
Angel of Goliad and James
W. Fannin were this year’s
topics.
Bobbie gave a detailed
account of the memoirs of
multiple survivors of the
Massacre of Goliad all given
with honor and reverence and
credit to a Mexican lady
immortalized with the term
“Angel of Goliad”. The Lady
was known in several circles
by a variety of names but
most accounts use Francita
Alavez. Alvarez lived her last
years on the King Ranch with
her son, Matias. She died
there and is buried in an
unmarked grave on the ranch.
