WHAT OF THE NIGHT
John 9:4, “I must work the
works of his that sent me, while
it is day: the night cometh when
no man can work.” I was di-
rectly* or indirectly involved in
Home Missions work in Arizona
for over 15 years. Previous to
that I was chairman of Negro
and Mexican Missions in Fisher
County, Texas for sixVyears.
July 15, 1966 I moved back to
Dublin, Texas (the place of my
birth) in a retired status, how-
ever, I will never quit preach-
ing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
My dear Christian friends, your
testimony is needed every day
every where. More Later.
Charlie A. Jones. 9-26-ltp
Watching a TV western, a
farm boy asked his father,
“Was the white man really
smarter than the Indian?”
"The father answered: “Son
when the Indians ran the coun-
try they didn’t have taxes, they
didn’t have debts and the wo-
man did all the work. No one
can improve on that.

Shower of Pink,
Blue Held for
Mrs. Undo Hicks
A pink and blue shower was
held last Thursday night, Sept.
19 for Mrs. Tommy (Linda)
Hicks of Bluebonnet Drive.
Guests were greeted by Mks.
Jean Henry at the door of her
home at 416 West Mesquite and
entered the living room where
the honoree was seated. At her
left a large dear umbrella de-
corated with pink, blue and
yellow ribbon was turned upside
down on the floor and filled to
overflowing with gifts.
The center piece for the cof-
fee table was a large pink stork
over • looking an infant child
in a baby cradle. Pink carnation
and ribbon encircled the setting.
The gifts were opened to cries
of enchantment by the hyboree
and her guests. Mrs. Jane Ree-
ves presided at the baby book
to record the many treasures.
They were then placed on dis-
play by Mines. Merrill Salyer,
Glen Duncan, and Gene Leath-
erwood in the bedroom.
In the dining room Mrs. Gail
Johnson and Mrs. Merrill Sal-
yers presided at the punch bowl
and coffee urn, while approxi-
mately forty-five guests ser-
ved themselves with an assort-
ment of home-made cookies.
Pink and blue baby rattlers
were given as favors.
Hostesses for the occasion
were Mmes. Jean Henry, Mer-
rill Salyer, Gail Johnson, Juan-
ita Duncan, Gene Leather-
wood, Vaughnieee Hill, and Jane
Reeves.
