TCC Conference
# Dated at Austin
“Christian Concern for World
Peace” will be the theme of the
conference in Austin Tuesday
and Wednesday, sponsored by the
Texas Council of Churches and
the Texas Council of United
Church Women.
The metings will be held in
the Southern Presbyterian Church
Eighth at Brazos, in Austin un-
der the auspices of international
affairs committee!
Registration will start Tuesday
at 1 p.m. and a dinner will be
the highlight of the evening ses-
sion.
On Wednesday morning there
will be discussion groups on ac-
tion of churches toward interna-
tional peace, and Dr. Kenneth
Maxwell will discuss “Crucial Is-
sues In International Peace.”
A symposium will be followed
by panel discussions including
discussion of “What Can, Church-
es Do to Promote Peace?”;!
“What is My Church Doing?”,
and “Texas Council and World
Community.”
Bishop Leslie Newbirgin of
London, England will be the
speaker at the closing luncheon!
at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel'
Wednesday. Bishop Newbirgin is
secretary "to the International
Missionary Council.
Anyone wishing more informa-
tion may call the Rev. Josef
Barton, who is secretary of the
Texas Council of Churches.

BARTLETT, Nov. 24 (Spl) —
Mrs. E. E. Cryer was hostess to
Circle I of the First Methodist
Church WSCS at her home, Mon-
day.
Mrs. George Fowler presided
in the absence of the chairman,
Mrs. R. E. Bunker. Mrs. C. E.
Lamb was director of the pro-
gram on “Take the Name of Je-
sus.” and Mrs. C. E. Bass read
a scripture from Luke.
The program leader introduced
the discussion with Mrs. M. N.
Leatherman, Mrs. D. A. Swope
and Mrs. S. L. Roberts taking
parts. Mrs. C. 0. Richards read
the verses from the sohg “Take
the Name of Jesus with You.”
Members were reminded of the
District meeting to be held here
Dec. 1 and the food sale on Dec.
3. There were 14 sick calls re-
ported.
Mrs. C. E. Lamb assisted in
serving a dessert plate.

Farm Bureau in the High School
auditorium, Monday night.
