Tuc case of Norwood et. als. vs. Shaw
et. als. which has occupied the attention
of tho District Court of Travis county for
two or tlirco days was disposed of yester-
day. A verdict was found for the plain-
tiff. Messrs. Mourcau & Kourbcr have
been buying corn to iill a contract of
2500 bushels for the Government Post
at San Autonio. As they could only ob-
tain one thousand bushels here they had
to get the remainder from Galveston and
New OrleanB.

' Thursday evening wo listened to
some very lino music produced by Mr.
Meyer of our city from a musical instru-
ment known as tho Zithorn. This in-
strument which Mr. M. has was manu-
factured in Munich. It has twenty-
eight strings and is placed upon a table
and played with both hands. It would
be a good idea to invite Mr. Meyer to
perform upon it before the Library As-
sociation some eveuing.
Maj. Wiikadon formerly proprietor of
iT the city hotel and late at the Baymond
"' House as purveyor of that establish-
ment will open in a few days a first class
restaurant. It will be conducted on the
J"13n$ppesui plan. Rooms for transient
'pinions and regular boarders can be
iiid of him. His restaurant is to bo in
tho City Hotel building. We wish the
Major success in his new undertaking.

' Collegiate Institute. Last night the
closing exorcises of the Austin Female
Collegiate Institute of which 13. J. Smith
is principal took place at Turner's Hall.
There was a large attendance of people
i io witness tho exercises.
The vocal and instrumental music of
the occasion was very fine. The compo-
sitions were excellent in character and
generally well delivered.
Rov. J. S. Grasty pastor of the Presby
terian Church South dolivorcd an ex-
cellent address in which ho spoko at
somo length upon the duty of tho truo
teacher and of tho power of such au edu-
cator. Ho mado also somo very pleas-
ing remarks upon the subject of educa-
tion gonerally.
Prizes for proficiency in music wore pre-
sented to Miss Lizzio Wingfiold of Lam-
pasas county ami to Miss Matthews of
this county. Tho rewards were sil ver cups
each similar in design.
Miss Mary Crow having completed tho
course of instruction adopted by tho In-
stitute was last evening piefccnted Avith
a diploma of graduation.
This school which has just closed its
sossion was 1iist put in operation in
March IS52. It started with four pupils
and it lias increased year by year until it
now numbers one hundred and forty-live.
The Institute was kept up during the war
and even in tho most trying times had a
fair attendance of scholar..

gal heirs of tho same in tho ovent of death.
Suction A. Tho ofllcoiof tho company shall
bo located at Paris Kontuchy and tho per-
sons ahovo montionod to whom this Chartoi
is granted shall constitute tho first Board of
Directors from whoso number thoy shall
eloct tho ofllcors of tho Company who shall
hold their respect ivo ofllccs for tho term of
two years or during good behavior until
their successors shall ho elected and installed.
Iho olcelion for a new Board shall tako jlaco
two years after tho oiganizatiou of tho Com-
pany under this Directory. In tho ovent of
death of nno or more members of tho Board
tho Hirviving members shall havo power to
fill tho vacancies but at any regular meeting

and proscribe their duties and amount and

of the ehildien of the members of this Asso-

Snuiion 7. In addition to the niembeiship
fee of ten dollais thore shall bo an annual
fee of two dollais paid into tho tieasury to
assist in paying tho'cxpenscs of the Company.
Sr.cnox 8. On notification by tho Secreta-
ry of the death of a member each surviving
member shall pay into the tieasury within
foify days fi om dale of notice tho sum of
two dollars and twenty cents two dollars of
which Jiom each member shall constitute a
fund to be paid within ninty days after death
of sjut'h member to tho legal heirs of the
same. The twenty cents will bo used in pay-
ing tho expenses of the Company. Tho Board
may have tho right to increase tho above
assessment for tho purpose of payment to
tho logal heirs of the deceased moinbor to a
sum not exceeding ton dollars in addition to
the twenty cents piovided niembeiship num-
bers live bundled and piovided further the
assessment paid to the heiis of any deceased
member shall not exceed five thousand dol-
lars. Sixhon l. Nojiaitoflhoslockor intcicst
of any membeis of this Association shall bo
subject to any debt liability or legal or eq-
uitablo jiioeess against them or which shall
alienate the fund fiom their legal heirs.
SixliON 10. The President and Board of
Direetois shall cause to be made annually a
fnlliopoitof the business and condition of
tho company subject to tho inspection of all
its luembcib. .
Suction 11. Tho By-laws may regulate
tho time of all legular meetings ol tho Board
and called meetings and the rules manner
and form of voting and regulate all other
business not ineoiibistont with this act or
may fix tho rules and principle by which the
Company may tiy and expel a member and
adjudicate iuponhis rights duties and for-
feitures as a member of said Cnmpaiiy.
Sfchon 12. If tho Board choose thoy may
constitute agencies and branch oflices any-
where for the purpose of facilitating tho ob-
jects of tho Association and being ot a pure-
ly charitable character shall bo exemr lrom
all State county and city taxes.
Suction 13. Whenever the Boaul ol Di-
reetois may deem it necessary to raise money
for tha purpose of carrying out tho charita-
ble purpose contemplated m this Charter
they may ibsuo bonds of tho denomination ot
One Hundred Dollais to an amount not ex-
ceeding Ono Thousand Dollars with coupons
attached drawing interest at any rate agreed
upon ; tho bonds and coupons payable as
may bo agreed upon by tho Board.
