Tho theory that “Abie’s Irish Rose,”
Anne Nichols’ phenomenal stage suc-
cess, would go on forever, seems to
have hit the mark on the head. For,
following its five and one-half years
on Broadway as a legitimate produc-
tion, “Abie's Dish Rose” has now
beeri made Into an absorbing picture,
which make its first appearance'at
the Plaza Theatre, Paris, on Jan. 21,
•with Jean Hersholt, Charles “Buddy”
Rogers and Nancy Carroll in the lead-
ing roles. It is said that Paramount
made an especially good job of the
perennial “Abie” and in addition has
supplied this picture with an excel-
lent musical accompaniment and
sound effects. As an added treat,
Miss Carroll is heard as she sings
several songs, among which is the
love theme song hit, “Rosemary."
The story of “Abie’s Irish Rose” is
concerned with Abie Levy, a young
Jewish boy, who falls in love with
Rosemary Murphy, a pretty and vi-
vacious girl who, as her name implies,
holds allegiance to the shamrock.
But Abie and Rosemary are young
and they are in love and being young
and in love they tell each other that
t^eir parenis will "forgive and forget.
In addition to the above, the pro-
gram at the Plaza will include a mov-
ietone singing specialty by Johnny
Marvin, Victor record artist.
