I Amber Ludtke, a fifth grade student
at Clifton Elementary School, was
crowned Ul' Miss FreedomFest. She
is the daughter of Jerry Ludtke and
the late Janet Ludtke and was spon-
sored bv Andrews' Ranch.
First runner-up, Ashley Horstman,
is a sixth grader at Clifton Middle
School. Her parents aie Steve and
Loma Horstman and she' was spon-
sored by B&B Athletic Supply.
Second runner-up, Can Lyn Evans,
10, attends Clifton Middle School and
was sponsored by Second Time
Around. She is the daughter of David
and Shelly Evans.
Also a contestant, Collin Cooper is
an 11 -year-old student at South Bend
Christian School. She is the daughter
of Janie and Jo Paul, and was spon-
sored by The Inn at Spring Lake.
Kendra Lee was crowned Miss Teen
FreedomFest. Lee, 14 attends Lorena
High School and was sponsored by
Pat’s Gowns and Pat and Allen Lee.
She is the daughter of Debbie Lewis
and Melvin Lee.
First runner-up for Miss Teen
FreedomFest was Kristin Michelle
Henry, 15, of China Spring High
School. Her parents are Steve and
Debbie Henry and she was sponsored
by Pam’s Pretties.
Second runner-up, Katy Owens, 13,
is a student at Valley Milk Junior High
and was sponsored by Southern
Trucking. She is the daughter of Lori
and Robert Southern and Bob Owens.
Nicole Rae Henry, a 13-year-old
Meridian Middje School student,
placed as third runner-up. She was
sponsored by her parents, kruce and
Kathy Henry.
Lorena Walker, Miss FreedomFest,
is a senior at Clifton H’gh School. She
is the daughter of Johnnie Flemming
and was sponsored by The Clifton
Record. Walker plans to go to Tarle-
ton State University and major in el-
ementary education.
As an entry in the contest for Miss
FreedomFest, contestants were re-
quested to write a short essay on free-
dom which was read to the audience
while Walker modeled her evening
gown. Walker’s essay follows:
“In the hearts of all people there
are many fancies and feelings that
make these people who they are.
“One of my personal fancies is a
very simple word that has an array of
meanings that blend together to make

The pageant was highlighted by the
Heart of Texas Line Dancers who per-
formed between each section of the
pageant.
