In the historical brief com-
piled by Hulen C. Aars that ran
in The Clifton Record last
week, an ommission was made
that included the names of two
employees. Following is a cor-
rected paragraph that includes
the addition of the names:
Today, InterFirst Bank Clif-
ton, with assets of $66 million,
is headed by John B. (Abe)
Stroud as chief executive of-
ficer and Wendell Bearden as
president. They are joined by
the other officers: Kent
Patterson, executive vice-presi-
dent; Ken Baucom, senior vice-
president; Janice Belvin,
assistant vice-president; Don
Burden assistant vice-presi-
dent; Darlene Finstad, assis-
tant vice president; Johnye
Kleine, assistant vice presi-
dent; Laginia Baker, assistant
cashier; and Melissa Parks, as-
sistant cashier.
Text including the name of
Wendell Bearden was done in-
correctly in the 1986 article, and
again in the 2006 article.
Bearden was incorrectly writ-
ten as Burden.
The Clifton Record apolo-
gizes for any harm or confusion
this error may have caused.

Farm Credit
Marking 90th
Year Of Service
AUSTIN — Rural America’s
customer-owned partner, the
Farm Credit System, cel-
ebrates it 90th anniversary of
service on July 17, the date
when President Woodrow Wil-
son signed the Federal Farm
Loan Act in 1916.
Today, with more than $106
billion in loans to agriculture,
rural landowners, country ho-
meowners, and small commu-
nity infrastructure, the FCS is
the oldest and largest financial
cooperative in the nation.
The legislation President
Wilson signed into law created
a system of 12 Regional Land
Banks that grant loans to
farmer-owned cooperatives, al-
lowing farmers to borrow from
their local institutions, using
their land and improvements
as collateral.
Today, the FCS is a network
of 101 borrower-owned lending
institutions and related service
organizations serving U.S. ag-
riculture and rural America.
Unlike commercial banks,
Farm Credit institutions do not
take deposits. The system
raises its funds through the
sale of bonds in the nation’s se-
curities markets.
