CLIFTON — Recent contributions
to the Ooodall-Witcher Hospital
Foundation “Making the Best Bet-
ter” fund-raiser make perfect exam-
ples of why no gift is tho big or lio
gift is too small to help reach the
$500,000 goal to modernize the non-
profit rural hospital.
NCNB Bank President Ken Bau-
com presented Wendell Bearden,
hospital board member and former
NCNB executive, with a check of
$25,000 from NCNB of Texas on
Tuesday, May 8. The large donation
took the “Making the Best Better”
campaign over the $400,000 mark.
On Wednesday, May 2, Cason
Murphy, four-year-old son of Terry
and Karen Murphy, turned in five
dollars in pennies, nickels, dimes,
and quarters to help with the fund-
raiser.
"Both of these contributions
generously prove that a donation of
any amount does add up and can
make a difference,” said B.C. Ben-
nett, solicitation chairman of the
fund-raiser. “We have received
several $50,000, $25,000, and
$10,000 donations or pledges that
have certainly helped us rapidly
climb toward our goal, but it has
also been the $5, $10, and $25 do-
nations that have helped us reach
the current $400,000.”
According to Bennett, he has been
overwhelmed by the generosity of
the donors to date. “That $400,000
only represents about 300 individu-
als, organizations, or businesses
who have given or pledged any-
where from $6 on up to $50,000,”
said Bennett.
He added that he hopes the last
$100,000 will represent even more
people. “We need everyone that
values our hospital and what it
does, has done, and will do for our
community to join in this fund-
raiser and support it with a contri-
bution no matter what size—small
or large.”
