tion as a National Main Street
City due to the quality of the pro
gram
“At this point, the Main Street
Program has actually brought in
more money from donations,
sponsorships, and grants than the
City has spent to support it,” said
Jones “Factor in the value of the
volunteer hours and the in-
crease in retail sales and that fig
ure increases significantly
“Main Street volunteers work
a minimum of 80 hours per
month, which is equal to at least
a half-year of free labor for the
City every year, and that’s what I
call a bargain," Jones concluded
