being in charge of the arrange-
ments for the affair.
The group met there at 3:00
o'clock that afternoon and enjoy-
ed visiting, swimming, and pic-
ture-taking: At 6:30 o’clock that
night a delicious picnic supper
was served, after which they all
heard musical selections present-
ed by various members of the
group and participated in an old-
fashioned sing-song.
Members of the family agreed
to meet at the same place on
July 2, 1967, and selected Mr.
and Mrs. Jesse Wiese to make
arrangements for next year.

Watermelon Cut
Set By Bureau
At 8:00 o’clock on Tuesday
night of next week—July 19-
members of the Bosque County
Farm Bureau will have their
regular monthly meeting at Me-
ridian State Park. Instead of the
usual covered dish supper, there
will be plenty of ice cold water-
melon.
Host for the evening will be
Sam Radde, Bosque County
Farm Bureau director from the
Meridian area.
No program has been planned
for next week’s meeting, but a
group of very pretty girls will
be introduced. Those girls will
participate in the Bosque County
Farm Bureau Queen Contest to
take place in August.
Girls who have entered that
contest to date are Ramona Lane
of Meridian: Billye Carol San-
ders, of Valley Mills; Melanie
Muir, of Kopperl; and Fran
Arthur. Donna Aars, Marilyn
Chambers, Marilyn Erickson,
and Anita Wallace, of Clifton.
Any other girls who desire to
take part in the contest may
enter by calling either Mrs. Ray-
mond Lammert or Mrs. Allison
Olson, Bosque County Farm Bu-
reau office secretary.
Present Bosque County Queen
is Miss Martha Smith, of Clifton.
Calvin Rueter, farm bureau
president, issues a cordial invita-
tion to all members and friends
to be present next Tuesday night
at the Meridian State Park to
enjoy the watermelon and social
gathering.
John B. Schows Now
Are In Great Britain
Mr. and Mrs. John B. Schow
and children, Janet and Robert,
presently are visiting with Mrs.
Schow’s parents in Great Britain,
according to information receiv-
ed at the Record office this week
irom Mr. Schow’s sister, Mrs.
Charles R. Thompson, the for-
mer Miss Doris Schow, of Dallas.
Mr. Schow, a native of Clifton,
is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
P. E. Schow Sr.
The Schows plan to be gone
six weeks; they will return home
by July 30 in time to celebrate
Robert's eighth birthday in the
United States.
Mr. and Mrs. Schow and their
children left by plane from Love
Field in Dallas. Their first stop
was in New York City, where
they were met by Mr. Schow’s
j brother and sister-in-law, Mr.
! and Mrs. Earl Schow, whose
borne is at Hicksville, Long
i Island.
In Paris, France, 17-year-old
j Janet was met by her French
“pen pal", who escorted the
Schows around that city. Another
jet plane took them to London,
England, where they boarded a
train for Newport. Mrs. Schow is
a native of South Wales, where
she and Mr. Schow met during

In a wedding of interest to
the many relatives and friends
of the groom in Bosque County.
Miss Darlene Johnson became
the bride of Mr. Bobby G.
Struempler in a double • ring
ceremony read at 8:00 o’clock
on Saturday night, July 2, at
the Trinity Lutheran Church in
Clifton.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Johnson,
of 2328 Grauwyler in Irving,
and the groom is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edwin Struempler, of
Route 1, Clifton.
Reverend Erwin H. Knitt,
church pastor, officiated at the
altar, with the forefront of the
sanctuary being beautifully dec-
orated with four arrangements
of white flowers and lighted
tapers. A similar arrangement
also was placed to advantage
at the altar.
Serving as organist during the
ceremony was Miss Elizabeth
Walters, of Garland, who also
accompanied Mrs. John Culver,
soloist, of Mesquite, when she
sang “O Perfect Love” and “The
Wedding Prayer”.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride wore a floor-
length wedding gown designed
of Chantilly lace, fingertip
sleeves, a beaded bodice, a scal-
loped neckline, and tiered
along the back with a full
train. She carried a bouquet
composed of a dozen white rose-
buds centered with a white or-
chid.

was Mrs. Carolyn Miller, of Al-
len. She was attired in a blue
dress with white accessories
and had a corsage of white rose-
buds.
Norse Saddle Club
Enjoys Gatherings
Members of the Norse Saddle
Club recently have enjoyed sev-
eral gatherings.
At 5:00 o’clock on Monday
morning, July 4, a group of the
club members met at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Summey
and went to the banks of Merid-
ian Creek, where they enjoyed a
sunrise breakfast.
After cooking and eating bacon,
eggs, fried potatoes, and coffee
the children enjoyed an early
morning swim.

Jean, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Sol-

After the wedding the bride's
parents entertained with a re-
ception in the church Fellow-
ship Hall.

with an ivory lace cloth over
blue and centered with the
bride’s bouquet.
Leave For Colorado
When the bridal couple left
for a wedding trip to Colorado,
the bride wore a yellow suit with
white accessories and the orchid
from her bridal arrangement.
Following their wedding trip
Mr. and Mrs. Struempler will
be at home at 117 South Bowser
Road in Richardson.
Mrs. Struempler is a graduate
of North Dallas High School,
and Mr. Struempler graduated
from Clifton High School. They

Holcomb Reunion Is
Held At Lake Whitney
Members of the Holcomb Fam-
ily held their reunion from Thurs-
day, July 7, through Sunday,
July 10, at the Lake Whitney
State Park.
Present for the occasion, which
for the past 13 years has taken
place at Cleburne, were 97 mem

reunion also will be held at the
Lake Whitney State Park.
