C//ffon Garden Club Holds Membership Tea
The Clifton Garden Club
held a successful Member-
ship Tea on Thursday after-
noon at the Civic Center to
acquaint the public and those
interested in joining in the
various phases of garden
club work.
Guest speakers were Mrs.
Roger Parker of Austin,
Distria VJ^irector, and Mrs.
Saveli L. Sharp, Zone I
Director of Texas Garden
Clubs Inc. They informed
those attending that when
they joined Clifton Garden
Club they automatically be-
came members of Texas
Garden Clubs Inc. and the
National Council of State
Garden Clubs Inc., and be-
oamoca-part of their many
projects and accomplish-
ments.
Slides were shown of past
garden club activities, and
also of Bosque County wild-
flowers and native trees.
After the program, guests
visited and viewed the dis-

stages of development of
African Violets by Mrs.
Geraldine Gilbert, a table
depicting design arrange-
ments by Mrs. Frank Bishop,
the Club Scrapbooks which
have been kept up since
1953, soil and fertilizer infor-
mation, and books on all
topics of garden club work.
Besides members and the
member of Terra Firma
Garden Club of Waco was
there to help with the
questions.
Names were drawn by
Mrs. Jackie Emerson, and
door prizes presented to
Mrs. Hulen Aars, Mrs. Per-
nell Aars, and Mrs. Floyd
Crunk. Serving at the
refreshment table were Mrs.
M.K. Bradstreet, Mrs. Billy
Jo Hurley, and Mrs. Marilyn
Malott. Several of the guests
indicated their desire to join
Presbyterian women met
Monday, October 13, at 1:30
p.m.,- in the home of Mrs.
W.A. Davis. Mrs. E.E.
Schow, vice-president, pre-
sided in the absence of the
president, Mrs. Phil Gilliam.
The minutes of the Septem-
ber meeting were read and
approved and the financial
statement was given by the
secretary, Mrs. V.D. Good-
all. She also read a
correspondence from Mrs.
Nora Gates.
Under old business Mrs.
W.A. Davis reported on the
Women’s Conference which
was held last June at Mo
Ranch. Mrs. M.B. Jameson
gave a report on the annual
fall Presbyterian Women’s
Workshop which was held in
Temple in September.
Under new business plans
were made for a shower to be
given at the end of the
November meeting. Also, a
new, white Bible was to be
presented to Joseph Neath-
ery, a new baby who was
recently baptized by the Rev.
Mr. Horak.
Mrs. Jameson was the
Bible Study Leader for the
afternoon. The theme of her

ments to 12 members and
one guest, Mrs. Hester.
Next meeting will be in the
home of Mrs. E.E. Schow on
November 10.

Hold Revival Services
United Pentecostal Church
of Clifton will hold revival
services October 23-26 at the
Church located at 210 N.
Ave. D in Clifton. Services
will begin at 7 p.m. each
night and Sunday morning
services will begin at 10

Memorial Hospital in Cle-
burne with her cousin.

with their granddaughter

weekend in Mississippi
where he attended a family
reunion, his mother and

ied him on the trip.

Sunday to see Miss Sherrie
Bearden, student at Weath-
erford College. Sherrie is the
daughter of the Don Beard-

day night in the home of Mr.

Mr. and Mrs. Goodhue
Eichilberger and son, Hue
and Miss Missy White all of
Irving, were guests Sunday
in the home of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Siepert.
Mrs. Callie Brittain Ed-
wards, 73, of Laguna Park,
was killed Saturday after-
noon in an automobile acci-
dent near Houston where she
and her daughter and grand-
son had been to visit another
daughter and were returning
home when the accident
happened. Also killed in the
accident was her grandson.
Callie was the sister of Earl
Downey Brittain, formerly of
this community. This com-
munity extends its deepest
sympathy to her loved ones.
Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Siepert
have recently visited their
daughter and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Joel Bayer, Steph-
anie and Leslie Jo of Lubbock
where they spent Saturday
until Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold
Clements accompanied Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Concilio of
Waco to Lubbock where they
spent Thursday until Satur-
day attending the Annual
Accountant Update for Jr.
Colleges for Accounting
Teachers. Sponsored by
Texas Tech University. Mrs.
Clements and Mrs. Concilio
are teachers at MCC.
Jerry White visited Barry
Finstad Saturday in the Dick
