named co-chairmen for 1977
Homecoming activities at their
alma mater

being planned for Oct. 28-29
and will include the TCUlUni-
vcrsity of Houston football
game.
Dr Smith, native of Taylor,
completed the BA degree in
1964 at TCU, where he had
been a halfback on the var-
sity football team. hTe Univer-
sity of Texas Medical School
graduate spent a year in Viet-
nam with the Marine Corps.
Mrs. Smith, the former Peggy
Aars of Clifton, earned her de-
gree at TCU in 1969. President
of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorori-
ty while an undergraduate, she
was chosen a campus beamy
for the yearbook and wias
named TCU swetheart She for-
merly taught in he Dallas in-”
dependent school district.
Fort Worth residents since
1974, the Smiths are active in
TCU’s Century Club.
Good morning. How has your
week been? Wondrful, I hope.
Mrs. Milford Murphree spent
'several days last week visiting
relatives and friends in Trini-
dad. Fom all reports, she had
a very good time.
• Charles Hoel has been in 4he
hospital since April 30. He is
improving and would enjoy
visitors H. B. Hanson is also in
the hospital. Remember, “A
merry heart doeth good, like a
medicine,” so why not give
some cheerful visits?
Mr. and Mrs. C. Pennell Aars
r spent Thursday in Glen Rose.
Although it was primarily a
business trip, it was a pleasant
journey.
My friend, Mrs. John Robin-
son of Dallas, spent May 1 and
2 visiting Mrs. W. F. Presher.
We had a cheerful chat on the
telephone.
Mrs. Robinson is president of
, the Dallas Army and Air Force
Mothers’ Club, of which 1 am
an absentee member.
Mr. and Mrs. T. J. White
were happy to have their
grandson, Kevin, spent last
week with them. He lives in
Plano, and his father. Tommy
White, came for him. The
White’s son, Craig, spenlt Moth-
er’s Day weekend with them,
also. He attends Bast Texas
State University in Commerce.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Smart
of Tyler spent Friday night at
he White home. Saturday, Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd Eggen and
Floyd Jr. came from Tyler. All
attended the funeral Saturday
of Olee Aulie and interment
ait the Norse Cemetery.
The Luther League of Our
Savior's met Sunday evening.
The sponsors were Mr. and
Mrs. James Pitts, Mr. and Mr*
Claude Richards and Mr. and
Mrs. Olee Bakke.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Brown
left from the Waco airport
early Monday to go to Wash-
ington, where they will visit
their son, Chaplain Milton
Brown Jr. and his family.
Chaplain Brown lives in Steil-
acoom& which is close to Ta-
coma. I had a call from the
Browns to get our daughter's
address in Tacoma. They hope
to call her. Their other plans
include visiting the mountain*
and the Pacific beach.
The ALCW of Our Savior’s
met Tuesday in the parish hall.
The program was given by the
Bee Hill-Boggy Circle. Hos-
tesses were Mrs. Carl Smith,
Mrs. Glen Gustafson and Mrs.
Hallie Smith. Several reported
an the Waco Conference ALCW
Convenion at Temple last Wed-
nesday.
The flowers on the altar of
Our Savior’s last Sunday were
placed by Mrs. Loyd Homer-
stad in memory of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Barzak.
Next Sunday, May 15, after
church services The Norwegian
Society of Texas will conduct
a brief memorial service at the
Cleng Peerswn Monument in
the Norse Cemetery. The
speaker will be Pastor Oddvar
Micaelson of The Norwegian
Seaman’s Mission in Houston.
A covered dish lunch will fol-
low, and all are invited to par-
ticipate.

entered the 1977 Smile Girl
Contest. She is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Smith
Jr.
Miss Smith is 5 feet, 3%
inches tall with brown hair
and hazel eyes. She is a jun-
ior at Clifton High School,
Pressure gauge testing Friday
There will be a testing of
pressuregiauges Friday, May 13,
from 1 illo 3 p.m. at Clifton
Civic Center in the large kit-
chen and the small meeting
room, There will be a slight
charge as decided by the Bos-
que County Home Demonstra-
tion Council when it meets
April 28.
Mrs. F. L. Thiele, council
chairman, presided. Sirs. S. L.
Eakin gave the THDA prayer
and a poem, "I Love a Tree,"
Mrs. Eakin reported for Cay-
ote Club, Mrs. Jlake Scljos for
Lazy Daisy Club. Mrs. Eakin
also gave a brief report on tl^p
new year book.
Mrs. Tom White gave the
THDA chairman report. Miss
Delmella Dunn gave a 4-H
committee report.
Miss Dunn distributed an-
nual report forms to be re-
turned next council.

Major J. R. Allen, command-
er of Region IV, Tixas Depart-
ment of Public Safety, will
speak at the Bosque County
(Clifton) Rotary Club Thurs-
day, May 12. The luncheon
meeting will be held at 12:10
p.m. at Schmidt’s Downtown
Restaurant, Clifton.
Major Allen was bom in
Streetman, Freesone County
He was graduated from Mont-
gomery High School and at-
tended Southwest Texas Jun-
ior College and Sam Houston
Slate University He is a grad-
uate of the Southern Police In-
stitute of the University of
Louisville, Ky.
He served in the Air Force
for four years. He joined the
DPS in 1955 He was a trooper
in Houston from 1955 to 1961.
He was promoted to serge-
ant in 1961, and served in Beau-
mont and Palestine. After be-
coming a second lieutenant in
1969, he was assigned to cap-
tain He was appointed a ma-
jor and assigned to Waco last
November.
Major Allen and his wife,
Jackie, are parents of two
son, both of whom are DPS
troopers. Major Allen is a
member of the Rotary Gub of
Waco.

Bond's Alley
Art Fair set
for June 11,. 12
On June 11 and 12 in Hille-
boro the 13th annual Bond’s
Alley Art Fair will be held
.around the Victorian Court-
house and in the 124-year-old
Bond’s Alley. One hundred
artists and craftsmen will
show their wares.
After 12 previous shows
which raised some $15,000 for
the Hillsboro City Library, the
new Library for Children is
a reality and can be seen by
visitors at the show.
The featured artist this year
will be Jo Taylor whore water-
colors will be exhibited in Jhe
new gallery. The featured
craftsmen will be T. G .and
Carol Mecaskey. Their work in
'stained glass is a first for
Bond’s Alley. Both of these ex-
hibits will be in the Library
for Children in the library
basement.
