Rites held for Karl Lovelady,
former state senator and judge

Funeral services were held
Wednesday morning, Nov. 23,
for Karl Lee Lovelady, in the
Singleton-Ellis Chapel of the
Chimes in Muleshoe. Mr. Love-
lady, former Bosque County
Judge and state senator, was
buried Thursday morning,
Nov. 24, in Clifton Cemetery.
Mr. Lovelady, who had
moved to Muleshoe in May,
1949, died Monday morning,
Noc. 21, in the Muleshoe
Nursing Home following a
lengthy illness.
He was bom April 1, 1909,
in Whitney. He moved with
his family to Clifton in 1913.
He waS graduated from Clif-
ton High School, where he let-
tered in football for four
years.
Mr. Lovelady attended Bay-
lor University, Waco. He re-
ceived? a law degree from the
University of Texas at Austin.
He taught school in Hill
Countyf Morgan and Walnut
Springs. He coached basketball
and football while teaching in
Morgan and Walnut Springs.
He practiced law in Meri-
dian, Muleshoe and Ozona. He
maintained his interest in
sports by coaching Little Lea-
gue teams, £
Mr. Lovelady was Bosque
County judge from 1936-1940;
state senator representing
Bosque County from 1941-1945
and county attorney for Bai-
ley County from 1961-1963. At
the time of his death, he was
county attorney for Crockett
County.
He whs a Presbyterian and
a member of the Masonic
Lodge in Meridian. eH was
married to Jean McNabb in
Otto Cauuteson

OttauE. Canuteson, 64, of
Clifton died at his home Sun-
day evening, Nov. 27.
Otto was the son of the late
Martin and Annie Canuteson.
He was bom and reared in
Clifton, and worked for Ray-
mond Rogstad Oil Company
for 27 years.
Funeral services were held
at Clifton Funeral Home
Chapel, conducted by Jeho-
vah Witness minister,, L. C.
Nobles, of Waco.
Pallbearers were M. E.
Brooks, Jimmy Sowell, Sonny
Sadler, Perry M. Stewart,
Kenneth R. Stewart, Damon H.
Chisolm and Eddie Treadway.
Honorary pallbearers were
Raymond Rogstad, Harry
Reese and Everett Wallace.
Clifton Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in Clifton
Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife,
Dene, three step sons, Gene
Holley, BUI HoUey and Jimmy
Holley; three step daughters,
Mrs. (Ann) Bill ShiUing, Mrs.
(Nancy) Eddie Treadway,
Reba Holley; 15 step grand
children, five great grand
children; four brothers, Ar-
nold of Clifton, Melvjn of-
Pasadent, and Ovie and Louis
of Meridian, and one sister,
Mrs. L. W. Stewart of Buffalo
Muleshoe Sept 1, 1949. She
survives him.
Other survivors include one
son, Mark, at home; two
daughters, Mrs. Karla Eubank
of Maud and Mrs. John E.
Frierson of Dallas; two eisters,
Mrs. S. E. Ragsdale of Clif-
ton and Mrs. W. L. Johnson
of Meridian; one brother,
Tom F. Lovelady of Clifton,
and one grandchild of, Dallas.
Friends described the for-
mer Bosque County judge as a
person interested in helping
others, particularly young
people seeking further educa-
tion.

dies in Mian.
Millard J. Knudson, 76, of
Minneapolis, Minn., died Nov.
12 in his home of a heart at-
tack.
Mr. Knudson grew up in -
Bosque County. He was the
son of Tobias and Karina
Swenson Knudson. c
Memorial service was held
Nov. 15 in Oak Grove Luther-,
an Church. Interment was .in
Pleasant View Garden. ■%
He is survived by ltis wife,
Anna; three sons, Noel, Rogefr
and Bruce, and five grand-
children, all of Minenapolis;
three brothers, Alvin of Clif-
ton, Irvin of Fort Worth and
Otto of Meridian; a sister, '
Ruth Allen of Meridian, and'
several nephews and nieces. *;:

Walter Prescher of Womack
Lodge No. 135, Order of the
Sons of Hermann, has been
named to a 35-member Fra-
ternal Activities Committee by
Louis Engelke of San Antonio,
grand president of the, state-
wide fraternal benefit society.
The group’s duties will be
to provide new ideas for Her-
mann Sons lodge activities and
to encoruage more participa-
tion by younger members.
The committe«;will meet this
winter. Its recommendations
will be consolidated into a
suggestion list which can be
given to each Sons of Her-
mann lodge across the state.

Airman Terrence M. Boyle,
son of retired iJ.S. Air Force
Lt. Col. and Mrs. Brian J.
Boyle of Route 1, Morgan, has
been assigned,K to Chanute
AFB, 111., aftef completing Air
Force basic training.
Druing the sjp weeks at
Lackland AFB, the airman
studied the Air Force mission,
organization and customs and
received special instruction in
human relations. Completion
of this training earned the in-
dividual credits towards an
associate in applied science
degree through the Communi-
ty College of the Air Force.
Airman Boyle will receive
specialized training in the air-
craft equipment maintenance
field.
The airman is a 1977 gradu-
ate of Clifton High School.
