petitioner was enlisted and honorably discharged from Capt; -Elisha
Clapp s company ; thatue was enlisted in and honorably-
discharged fjom Capt. Vm. M. Eastland's company; that he
was enlisted in and honorably discharged from Capt. Owens-
ley's company ; that he was enlisted in and honorably dU't
charged i'i om Capt. Pierce's company : that the Secretary of'1
War is-iiT-d to petitioner a certificate for 12S0 acres of land
which is all the -compensation he ever received. It also ap-
pears from testim iny that petitioner has always resided in th?.
country from lhe date of his emigiation except when a Santa
Fe piisoner in the city of Mexico ; that besides the services
named above petitioner has been engaged against the common
enemy of the country in sevcial border campaigns for which
no discharge was given and no compensation ever rendered;

service both as a soldier and citizen to Texas and has received i
remuneration to the amount of a 1230 acre land certificate
