FAUE 2A- THE POLK COUNTY ENTERPRISE, THURSDAY DECEMBER 2 1993
Stephenson, Johnson
commended for efforts
from page 1
deputy under Aline Stephenson.
"It is hard to believe the many
changes in this one office," Walker
said. "I have personally seen it
come from hand-counting ballots,
to punch cards, to the present day
electronic election system that is
now being used. I have kept up
with the election system by helping
to work on election nights. The
same is to be said for the indexing
of the instruments, from indexing
by hand to the computer indexes
that are now available to the public.
"Aline Stephenson and Martha
Johnson are to be commended on
their effort to provide this system to
the public. I understand it is the
first in the state of Texas."
Walker lists the following
qualifications:
•Business training: Typewriter,
adding machine, computer and
bookkeeping.
•Approximately eight years
working in the clerk’s office under
Kenneth Kennedy and Aline
Stephenson.
•Seventeen years of abstract
work in the title industry, including
four years for Ward Jones,
Livingston Abstract Co.; 13 years
for E.L. McClendon Jr., Polk
County Title, Inc., holding title of
vice president, manager and escrow
officer for 10 of the 13 years, in ad-
dition to abstracting; the past 14
months for Jim Wright, Livingston
Abstract Co., on a part-time basis.
Walker is presently employed for
Polk County as secretary to High-
way Patrol SgL Roy Henry. "This
Murphy ends
repair course
ABERDEEN, MD. - Army Sgt.
James P. Murphy has completed a
wheel vehicle repairer course at
Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Students were taught
troubleshooting, replacement, and
adjustment of components and as-
semblies of wheeled vehicles. Use
of publications, tools, and diagnos-
tic equipment were also included in
the training.
Murphy is the son of Gloria B.

job also keeps me in touch with the
County Clerk’s Office, in the
criminal court division," she said.
"During my years working for
the County Clerk’s Office, two
abstract companies arid the high-
way patrol office, I have worked
with the County Clerk’s Office
with all of their records. 1 am
familiar with all the different
departments in the office. In addi-
tion, I have had the pleasure of
working with the District Clerk’s
Office, Tax Office, Sheriffs Of-
fice, DA’s Office, County Judge’s
Office, Treasurer’s Office, justices
of the peace and the Auditor's Of-
fice, which has kept me in touch
with county government," Walker
said.
"I can run the County Clerk’s
Office for you, the people of Polk
County, so 1 am asking for your
vote, support and, most of all, your
prayers in the upcoming primary
elections in 1994.
"My campaign treasurer is the
former County Clerk Martha
Johnson. Martha can be reached at
327-4779 at any lime. I can be
reached after 7 p.m. at 327-5426, if
you have any questions or would
like to talk to me.”
