INSTALLATION OF PASTOR - The Rev. Russell
Hess, who was ordained into the holy ministry of the
Lutheran Church-MIssouri Synod at Our Savior
Lutheran Church, Sacramento, Calif., was installed as
the new pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clifton,
during ceremonies Sunday, July 10. Participating in the
installation were those pictured, including [front, from
left] Charles Fehler, elder of Immanuel Lutheran Church
[ILC], Clifton; the Rev.Walter Chelmo, pastor of Trinity
Lutheran Church, Waco [vacancy pastor]; the Rev.
Russell Hess, new pastor of ILC, Clifton; the Rev.
Walter Albers, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Waco [installing pastor]; and Don R. White, president of
ILC, Clifton. Also, [back, from left] the Rev. David

School he was active in student
government, was on the track,
cross-country, and golf teams, and
participated in band, playing trum-
pet. During these years he was also
active in numerous chu'rch youth
activities, and was a member of the
New Life Seekers, a touring Chris-
tian drama and singing group.
Upon graduating from Hiram
Johnson High School in 1974, Pastor
Hess took a year off to pursue work
and other interests.
Prior to beginning his collegiate
career, he married Krista Elizabeth
Koch, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ernst Koch of Fair Oaks, Calif., on
August 16,1975.
In the following years, he studied
at Concordia Teachers College,
Seward, Neb., Sacramento City
College, and California State Col-
lege, Sacramento, where he received
the Liberal Arts degree in 1979.
He then entered Concordia Sem-
inary, St. Louis, in the fall of 1979, for
preparation to the Lutheran min-
istry. His vicarage internship was
completed at The Lutheran Church of
Unity, Saskatchewan, Canada.
While in Canada, Russell and Krista
had their first child , Lauren
Elizabeth.
On May 27, 1983, Concordia
Seminary granted Pastor Hess the
Theological Diploma and the Master
of Divinity degree. On June 26,1983.
he was ordained into the holy
ministry of the Lutheran Church-
Missouri Synod at Our Savior Luth-
CLIFTON — On Sunday, June 26,
50 members of the Ferdinand and
Marie Schulze family met in the
fellowship hall of Trinity Lutheran
Church in Clifton, with festivities
getting underway around 12:15p.m.
Forrest Jenson, chairman, wel-
comed everyone and Burton Collins
offered the table prayer. The meal
was served from a table with a
variety of foods, cakes and pies.
Following lunch, a short meeting
was held, at which the chairman
remarked about reunions, followed
by those present telling about family
happenings during the past year.
It was noted that during the past
year, no deaths occurred in the
family.
Robert Anz was the oldest person
present, with Amy Alanis being the
youngest.
Micky Jenson read the minutes of
last year’s meeting and gave the
treasurer's report. A collection,
amounting to $74, was taken.
Attending were Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Kiely and son, Dave Lovett,
eran Church, Sacramento, Calif.
According to the Rev. and Mrs.
Hess, they look forward to the Lord's
continued blessings in the Clifton
area.
