AN ORDINANCE.
Sec. 1 . No person or persons shall he allowed to
retail or sell ardent spirits or distilled spirituous li
quors by the glass or a less quantity than one quart
lo any one person or persons within the Corporate
limits oflli'3 town without a wtillcn license from the
Bo;ird of Alderman and signed by the presiding ofii-
cer Sccretaty and T icasurcr thcicof under the pc

Sec. 2. No pctson or petsons shall be allowed to
sell or offer for sale any goods wains or metchan-
dtsc or any property ciilter teal or pctsonal. within
tue limits of this Cororalio!i by auction except
Sherd's Constables and Administrators or such of-
ficers (not of this corporation) hs arc required to
make sdesby auction ;&. those shall have no privilege
to sell except such properly as they arc required to
do in pursuance of their duties as such ofiicers and
the requirements of Law without a written license

Sec. 3. All persons professing to be meichants
or keeping and selling goods of any or all descup-
tions by wholesale or retail or both arc and shall be
required lo procure a license from this Board and
any person neglecting or refusing to procure a Li-
cense as in this Section is required shall be sub-
ject lo a line ofnot less than five or more than twenty-live
dollars per day until such License is obtained
or the p.irty shall des'st fiom selling goods and have
given notice to this Boatd that ho or they have dis
continued the sale of goods.
