IBec. 4. Be it further enacted That the land
district as now established shall not be changed;
end the county surveyor of Bowie county shall
continue his jurisdiction over the whole territory
of said county as defined by an act supplementary
to an act entitled "an act to divide the county of
Red River and to create and establish the coun-
ties of Bowie and Lamar" approved January six-
teenth one thousand eight hundred and forty-
three. Sec. 5. Be it further enacted That the county
surveyor of the Judicial County of Paschal is
hereby required to transmit the map of said coun-
ty together with all the papers belonging thcroto
tothecountv of Red Uiver. and the county sur-
veyor of said Red River is alike required to trans-
mit to the counties of Bowie and Lamar all the
land papers belonging within their respective land
districts as now established any law to the con-
trary notwithstanding.

JOINT RESOLUTON
For the relief of Minute Men created under an
act approved February fourth one thougand
eight hundred and forty-one.
Section 1. Be it resolved by the Senate and
Bouse of Representatives of the Republic of Texas
in Congress assembled That the Secretary of
War is hereby authorized to receive of the dif-
ferent captains or commanding officers of the min-
ute companies who have rendered services in the
year oue thousand eight hundred and forty-one
duplicate muster-rolls upon the said officers ma-
king oath that said rolls are true copies of the
originals and also making proof to the satisfaction
f the Secretary of War that the services for which
said rolls are presented were sanctioned by the
Chief Justice of their respective comities and oth-
erwise performed according to the law entitled
"an act to ncoarage frontier protection" approved
4th Feb. 1S41.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted That the said
rolls when presented and duly proven as above
prescribed stall be sufficient vouchers in the War
Department to enable the said minute-men te re-
ceive their pay to which they are entitled under
the act creating the same from the appropriation
made for minute men approved third February
1842.
Sec. 3. Be it further resolved That each of-
ficer and soldier having served in said companies
shall after returns and settlements shall have been
made as above described receive the one-half of
his claims for said minute services in exchequer
bills under the appropriation biii approved 3d of
February 1843 and for the other half an auditedw
certificate.
Sec 4. Be it further resolved. That on liqui-
dation of any of said rolls under this provision the
original should there be one returned to Austin
hall be cancelled.
Sec. 5. Be it further resolved That this joint
resolution shall go into effect from and alter its
passage.

AN ACT
To repeal in part and amend "an act regulating
the Duties of Probate Courts and the settlement
of Successions" passed at the fourth Congress
and approved Feb. 5th 1840.
Section 1. Be it tnacled by the Senate and
House of Representatives of the Republic of Tex-
ms in Congress assembled That so much of the
fourteenth section of the above-recited act as au-
thorizes persons who shall be appointed to make
partition or a majority of them "to call in one or
more surveyors to run the lines of any lands and
also the divisional lines thereof" be and the same
is hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. Beit Jurther enacted That the persons
who shall be appointed to make the partition con-
templated in said act be and they are hereby au-
thorized to call in the county serveyor or his le-
gal deputy to ran the lines &c contemplated in
aid act for which survices the said surveyor shall
receive the same pay as now allowed by law.
Sec 3. Be it further enacted That this act
be in force from and after its passage.

the jail of Fannin county by Andrew Manson on the 13th
of August last a negro mao who says he belongs to Frank Hen-
derson of the Parish of Rapides State of Louisiana.
Said negro is about five feet eight or nine inches high spare
built and of dark complexion. He says he is 32 years of age
that he is a shoemaker and that he left Henderson's farm in
May last.
The owner of said negro is hereby notified to come forward
prove properly and pay all necessary charges and take him
awav otherwise he will be dealt with as the law directs.

TAKEN up on Bullard's Creek on the 30th day of Sep-
tember last and lodged in the jail of this county by Henry
Banta a negro boy who says his name is Bob and that he be-
longs to William Martin living near Shrcvcport Louisiana and
that he runaway on the 20th June last.
Said boy is about five feet nine or ten inches high dark com-
plexion and slow of speech. His right ear has be.en cropped
with one under slope and an nppcr nick out of the left. Has
also a large scar on the side of his head rather a down look and
bushy head. He says he is about fifty years of age.
The owner of said negro will come forward pay charges and
take him awav or he will be disposed of as the law directs.
