~ Total rainfall for the year
1932 in McGregor measured
29.70 inches. Glenn Crain was in
charge of tghe government rain
gauge.
Officers installed in
Knights Templar for the new
year were A.J. Mann, B. J. Allen,
Paul C. Cuenod, G.W. Searcy,
H.H. Hering, Rev. T.G. Story,
E.J. Thomason, F.M. Lyon, B.D.
Scott, Oscar L. Stewart, Ralph
Me Entire and Jim Ellis.
~ Miss Avah Stewart and Mr.
Sydney Wilson were married.
~ After several weeks of
negotiations, a trade was finally
worked out whereby the First
National Bank of McGregor took
over the assets and deposits of
the First State Bank. The two
banks formerly opening in Mc-
Gregor became the First National
Bank. First State Bank was in op-
eration for 15 years and the First
National Bank was established in
1889.
~ Mrs. Fannie Beal, a Mc-
Gregor pioneer died. She and
her husband were among the first
settlers of McGregor and had
lived here over 50 years.
JANUARY 8,1943—
~ Work would begin within
30 days on 250 houses to be lo-
cated on or near the defense area
and another 250 modern trailers
were to begin arriving. The hous-
es would be one, two and three
bedrooms, renting for a nominal
sum and the trailers would be the
most recent models adopted to
defense area use.
~ The law firm of Ramsey,
Amsler and Arnold was formed
in McGregor.
~ Methodist Women’s So-
ciety inducted its officers for the
coming year. President was Mrs.
Jim Hering. Other officers serv-
ing with her were Mrs. Albert
Hering, Mrs. Glenn Crain, Jr.,
Mrs. Jack Garrett, Mrs. Hoyle
Hackney, Mrs. Henry Smith,
Mrs. G.W. Searcy, Mrs. Sam
Jones, Mrs. W.P Rogers.
~ The civilan meat allow-
ance for the first three months of
1943 was reduced from 40 to 35
ounces a week.

were the local option election, lo-
cation of Air Force JATO Plant,
city’s cut over to dial telephone
service, tornado at Leroy Mc-
Cutchen home, drought, and high
percentage of polio cases in Mc-
Gregor.
~ The rainfall total for 1952
was 30.66 inches, just .73 inch
short of McGregor’s ten-year av-
erage.
~ Alvis Bourland of Corsi-
cana was named the new LOne
Star Gas Manager.
~ Miss Billie Nell Bugger
became the bride of Harold Brim
on December 31.
JANUARY 4,1963—
~ First Class Postage Stamps
jumped one cent—increasing
from four cents to five cents.
~ Rev. Louis Hannemanna
accepted a call to return to Mc-
Gregor as pastor of Zion Lu-
theran Church. He previously
servevd McGregor from 1942 to
1953.
~ Total rainfall for 1962 was
20.80 inches, 10 inchyes short of
normal.
~ Susan Douhitt became the
bride of Joe Lloyd Sims.
JANUARY 5,1973—
~ Current status of the legal
wrangle between McGregor and
Waco over the local airport was
to be explainedi by Sam Amsler,
Jr. at the Chamber Luncheon
at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Lunch price was $2.25. Chamber
president was Dick Fox.
~ First Baptist Church of
Crawford paid off its note for
its auditorium and educational
building 16 years early. The first
monthly payment was February
1968 and the last payment was
scheduled for January 1988.
~ Rainfall for 1972 was only
24.84 inches—about six inches
short of normal.
~ Miss Gwen Keltner be-
came te bride of James Byerly.

NASA astronauts were preparing
for upcoming SpaceX Falcon 9
demonstration flight. The sched-
ule lift off was to be April 30th at

was having its annual Trash-
Off with volunteers meeting at
Legacy Park ... Keith Ace Hard-

won the district track champion-

onship . . . Hailey Reineke of
MHS advanced to regional play
in tennis . . . Crawford’s Olin
Moody won the 1600 meter run
at district track meet . . . Bull-
dog Super Cen-Tex Basketball
honors went to Danielle Brisby,
Bidding started at $100,000
and had progressed to $135,000
when the government agent gave
hi bid, quickly bringing the mat-
ter to a close. Local bidders in-
cluded Mrs. J.B. Vandiver, Mrs.
W.D. Cox and F.A. Morris.
~ Funeral services were held
for Otis Gardner.
JANUARY 7,1993—
~ Miss Kari Jackson, man-
ager of Main Street Program, an-
nounced that its Tuesday Tuneup
programs would resume for the
winter months for McGregor
merchants.
~ Mark Roland announced
that he might re-open Amsler and
Co., Crawford’s only grocery
store, after the first of the year.
~ Ronnie Moe Spradley
was elected president of the
McGregor Volunteer Fire De-
partment. Other officers were
Thomas Isaac, Jerry Furry, Ju-
nior Fisher, Mike Gladwin, L.A.
Caufield, J.D. Nelson and James
Meadors.
~ McGregor’s annual to-
tal rainfall for 1992 was 39.64
inches.
~ Miss Lorna Collier be-
came the bride of Jimmy Hering.
JANUARY 2, 2002—
~ Thirty local business pro-
fessionals would begin working
with McGregor students and
teachers in a pilot program call
Career Coaching, sponsored by
the Education Service Center Re-
gion 12, Human Results Institute
and McGregor ISD. The program
was designed to give students a
solid grounding in what it takes
to be successful in the career
world. The diverse group of busi-
ness people included managers,
sales staff, business owners from
banks, car dealerships, restau-
rants and various companies.
~ Vida Pybum’s home at
418 Pullen was the winner of
the Christmas Spirit of the Sea-
son award. Charlene and Dean
Elliott took home the Best Clas-
sic Christmas Chamber title for
2002.
