Flutist shines
in competitions
Former Crowley resident
Terri Sanchez, a doctoral
candidate at the University
of North Texas, recently
placed second at the 26th
annual Myrna W. Brown
Artist Competition, pre-
sented by the Texas Flute
Society.
Sanchez also won first
prize at the San Diego Flute
Guild Artist Gold Solo Com-
petition in April.
Sanchez is one of five
UNT students who recently
won state and national flute
competitions. Each student
is studying flute performance
under the direction of Terri
Sundberg, associate profes-
sor of flute in the UNT Col-
lege of Music.
Sigma Epsilon sets
Christmas bazaar
Sigma Epsilon Chapter
of Crowley will hold its an-
nual Christmas bazaar from
1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at
the Crowley House of Hope,
216 N. Magnolia. Admission
is free.
The public is invited to
shop and visit. Items for sale
include Christmas treasures,
gifts, spiced tea, Texas trash
and more.
Proceeds will benefit the
Crowley House of Hope and
other organizations the so-
rority has helped since it was
chartered in 1974.
Masons’ blood drive
helps Scottish Rite
The Crowley Masonic
Lodge will have a blood drive
from noon-4 p.m. Saturday,
Dec. 10, at Brookshire’s, 320
E. Main St.
The blood drive, which
is being organized through
Carter BloodCare, will ben-
efit Scottish Rite Children’s
Hospital in Dallas.
