"Wo are glad to kcc our fanners turning
attention to it. It is a cheap fence. A
thousand plants may be purchased for five
deHarTby applying at our office and these
set out in a double row eight inches apart
go far to inclose a good sized field. In thrac
years the farmer has a fence which will not
oaly fceop out cattle &c..and lasl as long as
be lives but furnish him with the material
for fencing in other laud to an indefinite
amount. It is a good investment. Try it.
Jfejr Jiiio capacity of our State f'r
fxraiBg is undisputed. Indeed tho cvi--dences
of the past season show a most
wonderful procreating power on the part of
ths soil. A correspondent of the " Xcics''
writing from Washington county says that
''theutands 0 planters hare groicn and
matured from ten to fifteen and twenty
bushds ef corn jer acre without one drop
. " rain and this under our ordinary loose
method of cultivation." The past season
it will be recollected was a most uncommon
sease of drought. -For four months we
bad not a whole ay's rain. Yet the above
ith surprising fact every where confirmed.
. Our housekeepers arc'oftcn put to it
n these days of scarcity to prepare a nice
dish. You all know there is plenty of com
meal and bene Is a fine recipe for" a boiled
corn pudding."
"Mix well together a cups Indian meal; 2
capi buttermilk; 1 cup of water: half a cup of
boar; bslfacup of sugar; 2 tea poonful of
eooVicj; tod and 2 beaten crcb. Put this into n
tin tscmld covering tlio top with a cloth firmly
tied on and boll threo or four hourit. Sero up
with sweetened cream flavored with nutmeg or
anything els you please."
. The " Prairie Jitade" informs us
tbat the farmers of Navarro have finished
sowing thoir wheat and that there is about
tbrectimos as much wheat sown in that
f county as usual. An abuudauco of cheap
land is now to be Lought in Navarro and
