Vets Questions
And Answers
Q - Can my wife use my
educational assistance benefits?
A - A spouse cannot use the
veteran's GI Bill educational
benefits. A veteran's spouse
would be entitled to educational
assistance through the VA if
the veteran became perma-
nently and totally disabled due
to service-connected disability.
Q -1 have service-connected
disability which makes me
eligible for an automobile
grant. However, I do not have a
driver's license. How may I
obtain a license?
A -- Driver training will be
provided, directly or by con-
tract, through special driver
training courses at designated
VA health care facilities. For
additional information, contact
the nearest VA regional office.
Q - What do I have to do to
get my service-connected disa-
bility increased?
A - Normally a veteran can
reopen his claim for an increase
in his service-connected disabil-
ity by submitting current medi-
cal evidence showing his partic-
ular condition has worsened.
Q - I have had a permanent
plan WWH National Service
Life Insurance policy. My in-
surance needs have changed so
that I no longer require as
much coverage. Is a reduced
amount available on which
premium payments would no
longer be required?
A ~ Yes. If you hsd a
permanent plan and your policy
is not lapsed, you may use the
net cash value to buy a reduced
amount of paid-up insurance
which will continue in force
during your lifetime (or to the
end of the endowment period)
without further premium pay-
ments. The cash value of this,
paid-up insurance continues to
increase. Also, you may surren-
der the paid-up insurance far
its cadi value or obtain a loon
on it at any time.
5-1 in the Southeast Texas Pro
Baseball League. Last year's
winners, Hubbard of Orange,
and Port Neches Indians are
both 4-1.
Saturday the Barons will
host Hubbard at the Silsbee
High School park on Payne
Road. The game begins at 1
p.m. Sunday the Silsbee nine

In June 19 action the Indians
handed the Barons a 6-2 loss
behind Nathan Addison's one-
hit pitching. The Indians collec-
ted eight hits.
Port Neches started scoring
in the first inning as Bobby
Bradshaw hit a groundout to
bring in Jimmy Castino off
third base for the only run of
the inning. Castino had earlier
been given a free pass to first
and then stole second and third
before heading home.
Three more runs were added
to the Indaina' scorebook in the
fourth. Mike Laudig and Mike
Butaud had been issued walks
before Mark Raines hit a single
to bring in Laudig. James
WhitoJftllowed suit by dishing
out another single that brought
in Butuad. Finally Raines was
sent home on yet a third single
by Castinoto bring the score to
4-0.
Port Neches added two more
runs in the fifth before Silsbee
scored their only two runs in
the bottom half of that frame to
avert a shutout.
For the gvne, Addison gave
up only tftoruns, struck out six
and walked five to chalk up his
second consecutive win of the
year.

Auto Bums Before
Firemen Find Blaze
An auto blase, a gran and
woods fire and a gasoline spill
made up the three calls volun-
teers got during the week in
8ilabee.
Fire Chief Russell Busby said
a 1973 Chevrolet was complete-
ly destroyed June 19 before
firemen arrived due to a mixup
in directions. The vehicle be-
longing to Michael Gore caught
fire on a road off Highway 92
about 12 miles north of Silsbee.
Busby said that firemen were
told it was eight miles north
and they had to get additional
directions before being able to
find the car. Flames from the
auto spread into the woods, but
firemen soon tapped them out.
On June 14 firemen washed
down a gasoline spill at the
Shamrock station on North
Fifth Street. A June 18 call
sent the firemen to a woods and
grass fire about two miles off
Highway 96 east.

Taxpayer Fear
Taxpayers no longer fear that
Congress will let them down;
they just hope it will let them up.
iCONSUMER
GUIDELINES
Save money and energy
by using home lighting
system wisely. Three-way
bulbs in table lamps can be
utilized on high settings for
reading and lower settings
for conversation. Photocell
units or timers on outdoor
lights can cut unnecessary
power use. A double 40-
watt fixture can do the same
job, with less electric energy,
than one 150-watt incan-
descent bulb, two 75-watt
incandescent bulbs or three
60-watt Incandescent bulbs.
