The Silsbee Tigers gave the
hometown crowd a reason to
cheer Friday when they pounc-

Blake Braider tacked on the
extra point to put the Tigers on
top 7-3.
With 39 seconds left in the
quarter, Matthews added 6 to
the Tiger total with his 9-yard

yards for a Tiger touchdown to
give the Tigers a 19-3 lead with
6:27 left in the third quarter.
Late in the quarter, the
Tigers upped their lead to 25-3
when Matthews connected with
tight end Anthony Land on an

The Tiger defense held the

situations. On the whole, I
thought our boys played a good
game."
The Tigers will travel to
Nederland Friday to face the
Bulldogs and try to improve the
Silsbee record to 3-0.
The 20-AAAA Bulldogs hold
an 0-2 record and were defeat-
ed last week 21-9 by the
Thomas Jefferson Yellow-
jackets.
Nederland returns twelve
lettermen, four offensive and
three defensive starters from a
1986 3-6-1 class 5-A team.
Bulldogs to watch are quart
erback Kip McFarlin (6’2”-215),
tailback/kicker Jason Kemp
(6’0"-175), and defensive back/
split end Lance Sheppard (6’0”-
165).
“Nederlad may be a little
better than PN-G,” Woodard
said, “both offensively and de
fensively. Despite that, I look
for us to play them a good
football game.”
