FACTS AND FUN
By Nora and Robert
We understand Lhat Doyle
JVIcGlothlin was chagrined last
l week-end when he arrived at
Will O' Bell and found the
door of his mother and sister
Alma's room centered with a
large red Valentine (surround-
ed with pictures of him clip-
ped from last week's Tribune.
Tiny red bows were placed at
vantage points to add color to
the door.
His mother remarked "Doyle
is sure going to be embarrassed
"when he sees this door." Alma
said "I don't think that is a
.good picture of him; ho is bet-
ter looking than that."
The employees of Will 0' Bell
are complimented for their kind
.gesture to this modest man.
These United States sold
wheat to Russia last year and
now there is talk that since
there is a shortage of wheat
here the United States will pro-
bably purchase wheat from
Russia.
We have been told that many
of those who made resolutions
-on January 1st have forgotten
them by February 1st. Perhaps
if one will concentrate on keep-
ing only one or two improve-
ments to his life during the
entire year much may be ac-
complished during this time.
Last year we heard that a
local resident had purchased a
water bed. Durinir the recent
-cold weather we wondered if he
and his bride had to put anti-
freeze in the bed.
Our telephone at the office
.has been busy the last few days.
Several have asked questions
pertaining to registered voters
and who they were. We under-
stand if you voted at the last
election you are then qualified
to vote for the next three years.
If you are in doubt whether you
are a qualified voter you should
check your county record.
Maybe it isn't as bad as it
looks. We read that when peo-
ple refer to the good old days
of 1910 (and if you were in that
elite class Who owned a car)
.you paid more than $1.00 for
every mile you got out of an
automobile tin?. Today you are
suppose to get more than 100
miles of use out of 10 cents
worth of tire. Of course impro-
ved roads and manufacturing
methods are resnonsible for the
difference in cost.
