State Rep. Dan Flynn hosted an Open House
reception to introduce Children’s Advocacy Cen-
ter of Van Zandt County’s new executive direc-
tor, staff and board of directors.
Children’s Advocacy Center of Van Zandt
County’s mission is to reduce trauma to child vic-
tims through the coordination of Child Protec-
tive Services professionals and law enforcement
who are involved in the investigation and inter-
vention of child abuse. Representative Flynn be-
gan by introducing the center’s new executive
director, Jill Dutton; forensic interviewer, Patty
Flowers; and family advocate, Edith Wineland.
Flynn and his staff presented the center with a
certificate of appreciation for their dedication to
the children of Van Zandt County and a Texas
flag flown over the capitol.
Dutton thanked the staff for their hard work
and commitment as well as the board of direc-
tors for their confidence and trust in her and the
staff. Dutton explained the Children’s Advocacy
Center’s role and the services its staff provides.
She further explained that the center focuses on
three core direct services; the forensic interview,
conducted by a trained forensic interviewer, is
conducted in a child friendly and safe environ-
ment at the center. The family advocate then as-
sesses the family’s needs on an individual bases,
to provide referrals in order to provide hope for
the future. Finally, counseling is offered on-site
to aide in the healing process.
Dutton also spoke of the importance of com-
munity involvement by donations and volunteer-
ing but added that the leaders in Van Zandt County
are key factors in facilitating the communication
and cooperation of the agencies. While Flynn ex-
pressed his confidence in Dutton’s leadership and
thanked the center’s board for their choice of di-
rector, Dutton praised the board and staff for their
leadership and dedication to the children.
About 70 plus guests toured the center during
the open house.

“Standing with Judge Randy McDonald”
“As a long time police officer in Van Zandt
County, I have appeared and testified in
Judge McDonald’s court on a number of
occasions. I have always found him to run
a very efficient, professional and cordial
County Court-at-Law”
- Ron Duke
“Judge McDonald is a man of moral
character who stands for what is right. That
is what the people need.”
- Mickey Henson
Constable Precinct 1, Grand Saline
“My name is Eric Johnson. I worship in Canton and my friends are in this
community. I have been intimately involved with Judge McDonald’s
marriage counseling program since its inception. His opponent’s concerns
of this program are totally unfounded. They are not based upon fact, but on
supposition that looks more like political mudslinging than any real concern
for the hurting people of Van Zandt County. Judge McDonald crafted a
program that meets both the letter and spirit of the Texas Family Code — at
no taxpayer expense. I cannot imagine why anyone would oppose such a
well-intentioned program to help the people of Van Zandt County. Go to
judgemcdonald.com to see a letter from a couple whose marriage was saved
as a direct result of this program”

Hi
Just because they are both Republicans does not
mean that they share the same political values.
12 year incumbent Bob Deuell has the dubious
record of being ranked as the “most liberal
Republican State Senator in Texas”.
Bob Hall (“The RIGHT Bob”) is a Constitutional
conservative whose true conservative record as
a grassroots activists speaks for itself.
Bob Hall says it is time to stop sending
big-government, big-spenders to Austin.
