Clean-up week starts May 11 in Olney
Clean-up week in Olney
will be held from 8 a.m. Sat-
day, May

p.m. Saturday May 18. The
convenience station will be
from 8 a.m.-noon and
p.m. during this time,
except on Sunday, May 12.
Roll-off containers will be
located at the convenience
station, and residents are
asked to carry all debris, old
appliances, limbs, bagged
leaves and other junk to
the appropriate location.
When loading items, please
sort them into limbs and
branches, metal and other
like debris for easier un-
loading. Everyone is asked
to please remove debris
from alleyways and from
beside dumpsters to al-
low emergency vehicle and
trash truck access, when
needed. Any debris remain-
ing in alleys after clean-up
week will be documented,
and fines may be issued.
The city crew will make
one sweep to pick up curb-
side trash
debris will stop at 6 p.r
beginning Sat-
urday, May 11. Pick-up of

Friday, May 17. The city
does not guarantee that
all curbside debris will be
picked up, as the service
will be extended only as
time permits. Residents are
asked to take as much trash
as possible to the conve-
nience station, since items
left at curbside after May
17 will be the resident's re-
sponsibility to remove.
Please sort items left on
the curb into piles for metal,
limbs and branches, bagged
leaves, appliances and oth-
er debris. Do not mix items.
Crews may pick up metals
one day and other items on
other days during the week.
Items not at the curb that
are to be thrown away after
May 11 should be taken to
the convenience station, in-
stead.
Absolutely no batteries
will be taken at curbside or
at the convenience station.
Tires will not be accepted
curbside, either. They may
be taken to the convenience
station for the following
fees:
• Hi flotation - $150 each.
• Large tractor tires - $120
each.
• Medium tractor tires -
$30 each.
• Small tractor tires - $12
each.
• Truck tires over 20 inch-
es - $9 each.
• Passenger tires without
rims - $4 each.
Any tire with a rim will be
charged an extra $5 per tire.
Used oil and filters may be
taken to the city shop from
8 a.m.-5 p.m. any weekday
for disposal. Place oil in a
plastic container with a lid.
Oil filters cost 10 cents each
for disposal, and must be
placed in tied bags.
Please do not call City
Hall, as no pick-up list will
be made during clean-up
week.

Texas Tech Director of Ath-
letics Hocutt announced
Kingsbury as the Red Raid-
ers new head football coach
in December. A native of
New Braunfels, Texas,
Kingsbury graduated from
Texas Tech in 2001 with a
bachelor's degree in man-
agement. After a record-
setting career as Red Raider
Quarterback, Kingsbury
received multiple honors
including Associated Press
Big 12 Offensive Player of
the Year. In addition, he set
39 school records, 16 Big
12 marks and 17 NCAA
records during his career
at Tech (1999-2002). As a
senior he was awarded
the Sammy Baugh Trophy,
presented annually to the
nation's best college quar-
terback. He was drafted
by the New England Patri-
ots and after an eight-year
professional football career,
Kingsbury entered coach-
ing. At 33, Kingsbury is

Kirby Hocutt was official-
ly named Texas Tech's 13th
athletics director on March
2, 2011. He joined the Red
Raider family after spend-
ing two and a half years at
the University of Miami in
Coral Gables, Fla. Hocutt
was recognized as one of
the most promising young
executives in sports busi-
ness and received the Street
& Smith's Sports Busi-
ness Journal Forty Under
40 Award. Hocutt earned
his bachelor's degree from
Kansas State in 1995 and his
master's of education de-
gree from the University of
Oklahoma in 2001. He and
his wife, Diane, have two
sons, Drew and Brooks.
Hocutt, 40, is no stranger
to the Big 12 Conference
as both a student-athlete
at Kansas State and as an
administrator at both Kan-
sas State and Oklahoma.
A four-year letter man on
the Wildcat football team,
Hocutt led the former Big
8 Conference in tackles his
junior season while earn-
All-Big 8 accolades. Fol-
ding his playing career,
he moved over to admin-
istration where he served
as assistant director of
