To Observe 55th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie W.
Coleman invite their friends
and relatives to call Sunday
afternoon in observance of
their 55th wedding anniver-
sary. Mr. and Mrs. Coleman
were married September 27,
1914 at Howe. They have lived
in the Howe community all of
their lives. Mrs. Coleman is
the daughter of the late Bob
and Susan Davis and Mr. Gole-
man is the son of the late
John and Susan Coleman. The
six children of Mr. and Mrs.
Coleman are Mrs. Ralph White
and Mrs. Alton Holloway of
Sherman, Mrs. George Green
of Durant* Okla.8 Mrs. Lewis
Hestla of Hurst* John Robert
Coleman of Ft. Worth and Mrs.
James D0 Finney of Howe. The
-Colemans have 19 grandchil-
dren and six great-grandchil-
dren.
First Meeting Of
HD Club Slated
The Howe Home Demon-
stration Club will hold its first
called meeting Tuesday, Sepu
30* at the home of Mrs. L0Wo
Selby.
State Missions
Week Observed
By Baptist WMU
The Woman’s Missionary'
Society of the First Baptist
Church met at the church for
the State Missions Week of
Prayer. Mrs. Lowell Thomp-
son, president* opened the
meeting with the calendar of
prayer and led a short busi-
ness meeting. Mrs. Grace
Sloan read the minutes of the
last meeting and gave the fi-
nancial report.
Mrs. W.Po McDaniel led
the program ‘Behold My
Neighbor,' and the following
ladies took part: Mrs. Jerri
Briscoe, Mrs. Ray Henderson,
Mrs. Alton Norman, Mrs.
Linday Hartley and Miss Cor-
ine Callaway. A season of
prayer was led by Mrs. Mc-
Daniel and Rev. Sam Randolph
closed the prayers. A salad
luncheon was served at noon.
Rev. and Mrs. Randolph were
guests.
The next meeting will be
on Oct. 8 in the home of Mrs.
Edith Powell.
Silver Tea Held By Gamma Zeta
The Gamma Zeta Chapter
of Epsilon Sigma Alpha enter-
tained its rushees at. a Silver
Get-Acquainted Tea Sunday af-
ternoon at the home of Mrs.
John Bird, 1417 W„ McGee.
President Mrs. Wiley Lastor
greeted the guests as they ar-
rived and each was given a
nametag in the sorority colors
of blue and gold after regis-
tering in the sorority guest
book.
In addition to the silver
service and candlelabras on
the refreshment table, there
was also a centerpiece of blue
and gold flowers. Sharing tne
serving responsibilities were
Mrs. Bird, Mrs. Tommy Bris-
co, Mrs. Herb Williams, Mrs.
Jack Anderson and Mrs.
George Cavender.
The tea was the first of
several of the sorority’s an-
nual rush functions. The next
will be a Recipe Salad Sup-
per on Monday, Sept. 29.

GERMAN SWEET
CHOCOLATE CAKE
by Mrs. L.W. Coleman
2 cups sugar
1 cup Crisco
4 eggs separated
1 cup buttermilk
2-1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon soda
pinch salt
1 package German sweet choc-
olate, dissolved in 1/3 cup
boiling water
Cream sugar and Crisco.
Add egg yolks that have been
well beaten. Add 3/4 cup of
the buttermilk and the sifted
flour alternately. Add the
soda to the remaining 1/4 cup
buttermilk and add to the mix-
ture. Add the salt; then add
the mixture of melted choco-
late and water and vanilla.
Fold in beaten egg whites.
Bake at 350 degrees.
ICING:
1 small can Pet milk
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup coconut
3 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon butter
Mix these ingredients tog-
ether in .a heavy saucepan.
Cook and stir constantly until
thick. Icing may be spread
while cake is still slightly
warm.
