Trojans top Lindsay
for first win of the year
The Windthorst Trojans
regrouped Friday night after
their season opening loss to
Holliday, and handed the
Lindsay Knights a 14-6 defeat.
The Big Blue Crew opened
the scoring in the first quarter on
a 29 yard pass from Bryce
Humpert to Josh McCoy. The
point-after attempt failed, but
the Trojans held the 6-0 lead
going into the second period.
Lindsay got on the board with
a 37 yard field goal by Ross
Jones. Windthorst retaliated with
a 53 yard run by Rusty
Schroeder. The two-point
conversion gave the Archer
Countians a 14-3 advantage. The
Knights countered with a 36 yard
field goal by Jones to send the
teams to halftime with the
Trojans up by 14-6.
That eight point margin held
up the rest of the game. The
Trojans had to rely on defense
as turnovers (4 lost fumbles and
2 pass interceptions) stymied
their offensive efforts.
Windthorst will host Olney
Friday (tomorrow) at 7:30 p.m.
The Cubs posted a 16-10 win
over Seymour last week for their
first win of the year.

weekend. The game at Wildcat
Stadium will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
tomorrow evening.
lYojan JV
beat Lindsay
The Junior Varsity Trojans
won their second game of the
year with an 18-2 win over the
Knights from Lindsay.
The Trojans used their ground
game to control the tempo of the
ballgame and a stingy defense
to keep the Knights out of the
endzone. Ty Duncan hit Ryan
Cook for a 17 yard touchdown
in the first quarter. That score
followed several good runs by
Tyler Berardi and Abel Vasquez.
The defense, led by Lucas
Veitenheimer, Christian
Lindley, and Jayson Pope held
the Knights off the scoreboard
on two threats inside the red
zone. Running back Braydon
Ingram accounted for two scores
on hard runs between the tackles.
Ingram's scores came from 2
and 9 yards out. The Trojans'
only blemish of the night came
from missing on all 3 extra
points.
The undefeated Junior Varsity
will travel to Olney Thursday
(today). Game time will follow
the 8th grade contest, around
6:45.
