Ray Pender qb Club
Organized
A going-away party was given
Friday night, August 21, for Ray
Pender, son of Mr. and Mrs.
W. C* Pender.
The hostesses f o r. the p a r t y
were Carolyn Johnston and
Shirley Ard. Shirley gave the
party in her home and served
her guests some delicious chili
made by her mother. A good
time was reported by the fol-
lowing: Faye Smith, Edna
French, Carolyn Johnston,
Shirley Ard, Shelia Overstreet,
Joyce and Reb a Convoe, Mar-
vin Ard, Wayne Reynolds, Ray
Pender, Chester Richardson,
Bobby Henderson, Terry Balia,
Randy Harper, andRoyce Boyett.
Out of town guests included Gay
Laster from Baytown, Roy and
Harvey Drake, and Gilbert Gore
from Fred.
Ray is in the Marine Corp and
was home on leave. He left Sat.
morning for California where
he will be stationed.
The Silsbee Quarterback
Glub organized for 1964 last
week and elected the following
officers: Edwin O’Dell, Presi-
dent, Jessie Sanchez, vice-
president, K.E. Bell, Secre-
tary and Treasurer.
The Club meets every Tues-
day night at 7:30 in the Silsbee
High School Cafteria where
films of the preceeding game
will be shown and explained by
the coaches. Dues are $1.00 a
year. Last year had 400 menf-
bers; the goal for 1964 is 1500
members.
Tuesday night, Sept. 1, the
Club will hold annual Father-
Son Bar-B-Que and all persons
are invited to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. George Simp-
son visited her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. D.N. Taylor of Buna, Sun-
day. While there Mrs. Simpson
and George, and her mother,
Mrs. Taylor and her two nep-
hews, Talmage and Mac Stan-
ley, went and gathered a lot of
muskedimes. They will alien-
joy some good j^lly.
Mrs. Simpsons parents return-
ed home with them for a weeks
visit in Honey Island.

morning. Shirley Cherry sure
did hate to get up early after
sleeping late two weeks.
Visitors in the home, of Mrs.

23 were Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Rashall of Silsbee. Mrs. Nick-
lebur and Mrs. Rashall are
twins. Also visiting Mrs. Nick-
lebur, was her daughter, Mrs.
Sam Ryan from Winnie.

Kountze hospital Tuesday and
Thurs day night of last week.
Mrs. Aggie Nicklebur visit-
ed Mrs* B. H. Hammons in
Kountze last Friday, Aug. 21,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Narris
of Silsbee visited friends in
Honey Island Sunday.

Demonstration
Club Notes
The Annual picnic of tne
Hardin County Home Demon-
stration Clubs for friends and
members was held at the Honey
Island Park on August 19, from
' 10 A.M.-2:30 P.M. Mrs. W.A.
Wright, Home Demonstration
Council Chairman, from
Chance-Loeb was in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. R. S. Mills of Pine Rid-
ee led the group in recreation.
In addition to games and sing-
ing, swimming was enjoyed. A
picnic lunch was served to the
fifty persons attending.
The highlight of the day was
an auction of homemade arti-
cles canned foods, pot plants,
and fresh vegetables. Mrs. Fred
Davis, Cook's Bluff Home De-
monstration Club, served as
auctioneer, with Mrs. Harold
Jordan, Batson, assisting. Ap-
proximately twenty-five dol-
lars was netted from this pro-
ject.
Friends and Home Demon-
stration Club members from
Silsbee, Sour Lake, Grayburg,
Kountze, Chance-Loeb, Cook's
Bluff, Pine Ridge, and Batson
attended the event, according
to Dor thy Taylor, County
Home Demonstration Agent.

Renee' born August 9 at Bap-
tist Hospital at 1:06 A. M. She
weighed 6 lbs. and 12 oz, and
was 19 inches long.
