Kheumatism.
When pains or irritation exist on any
part of the body, the application of Bal-
lard’s Snow Liniment gives prompt re-
lief. E. W. Sullivan, Prop. Sullivan
House El Reno, 0. T., writes, June 6,
1902: “I take pleasure in recommend-
ing Ballard’s Snow Liniment to all who
are afflicted with rheumatism. It is the
only remedy I bave found that gives
immediate relief.” 25c, 50c, $1.00.

A Mr. Tudor, a converted Jew,
and city missionary for Fort
Worth, led the service at the
Methodist church Sunday morn-
ing. The sermon consisted prin-
cipally in relating his experience
and telling how bad a man he
had been in his day. With all
respect to him and his zeal, the
days for such services seem to us
to have passed their usefulness
long since.

Probably the largest crop of
hay in the history of this section
is now ready and getting ready
for market. Sorghum, johnson
grass, millet, Colorado grass,
sour grass, corn tops, fodder, in
fact every kind of hay known in
all parts of the earth are being
prepared for the market and for
home use. Those who make hay-
ing a business have plenty to do,
and the owners of the crops are
doing all they can to save their
crops while the weather is good.

Mrs. Mary E. Blair.
Mrs. Mary E. Blair, wife of Mr.
L. R. Blair, died Friday morning,
August 14. She had been sick
for some weeks, but her death
was a surprise to many of her
friends, who did not realize that
the end was so near. The fol-
lowing facts in regard to her life
and character have been furnish-
ed The Leader:
She was born May 11, 1846, in
Pocohantas county, West Vir-
ginia, where she lived to the age
of 22 years, and where she was
married to L. R. Blair. They
moved to Iowa and lived in that
state until the fall of 1872, and
then went to the frontier in west-
ern Kansas, where they made
their home until 1882. They
came to Lampasas in 1882, and
with the exception of a short in-
terval have made their home here
ever since. Mrs. Blair became a
member of the Congregational
church at Gaylord, Kansas, but
finding no church of that denom-
ination here, she became a mem-
ber of the Presbyterian church,
and has been a devout and faith-
ful member of that church ever
since, indeed having been a
Christian all her life.
A large concourse of friends
attended the funeral service
which was held at the home and
at the grave Saturday evening.
Mr. Blair and the surviving
children have the sympathy of a
large circle o‘f friends in their ir-
reparable loss.
Stop That Cough!
When a cough, a tickling or an irri-
tation in the threat makes you feel un-
comfortable, take Ballard’s Horehound
Syrup. Don’t wait until the disease
has gone beyond control. Mr, and Mrs
J. A. Anderson, 354 West 5th St , Salt
Lake City, Utah, writes: “We think
Ballard’s Horehound Syrup the best
medicine for coughs and colds. We
have used it for several years; it always
gives immediate relief, is very pleasant
and gives perfect satisfaction.” 25c,
5oc, $1.00. For sale by Key Bros,
J. L. Lowe, of the Lometa sec-
tion, was here Monday and paid
his respects to The Leader. He
reports that lie th res he'd some 20
oushels of wheat to the acre, and
that he is already for the next
crop.
Not Over-Wise
There is an old allegorical picture of
a girl scared at a grass-hopper, out in
the act of heedlessly treading on a snake.
This is paralleled by the man who
spends a large sum of money building
a cyclone cellar, but neglects to provide
his family with a bottle of Chamber-
lain’s Colic, Cholera, and Diarrhoea
Remedy as a safeguard against bowel
complaints, whose victims outnumber
those of the cyclone a hundred to one.
This remedy is everywhere recognized
as the most prompt and reliable med-
icine in use for these diseases. For sale

Rev. W. L. Riley, L. L. D., Cuba,
New York, writes: “After fifteen days
of excruciating pain from sciatic
rheumatism, under various treatments,
1 was induced to try Ballard’s Snow
Liniment; the first application giving
mv first relief and the secopd entire re-
lief. I can give it unqualified recomen -
datum.” 25c, 50c, $1.00. Bold by Key

The waters are acting peculiar.
The sulphur water at the artesian
well failed to flow for some hours
Saturday of last week and re-
peated this action Monday. The
water is now almost a typical
black sulphur water, while at
first it was almost or quite a du-
plicate of the water at the Hanna
spring. The Hanna spring is
now strongly impregnated with
iron, which is something unusual
for that fountain, so generally j
pure sulphur and magnesia. The j
waters at the Hancock spring
seem to maintain their usual
summer properties, of sulphur,
iron and salt. Possibly the dis-
turbance of the interior of the
earth by the drill at the well being
sent down in the northern part of
town has caused these unusual
disturbances and changes in the
character of the waters, none of
us can tell. This well is now be-
tween 1800 and 1900 feet deep,
and is nearly full of salt water.
It is hoped that something more
valuable will be found before the
entire depth contracted for of
2000 feet is reached.
