Seasonal Pastures
For Better Feed
Here's a word from R. 0. Dunklef
County Agent, on seaaonal pas-
tures for better feed. -
He says a good pasture mixture
is the best grass and the best le-
gutpe that is adapted to the soil—
seasonal needs—and to the man-
agement practice you want to fol-
low.
You will get more than twice as
separately. The grass will, have
more protein, too, when it's grown
with a legume. So—with more pro-
tein in the pasture forage yofu can
get the same results with leas
concentrated feed. '
One mixture you can plant now
is Chinese red cow peas and Su-
dan. Mix them half and half and
plant at the same rate as you would
sudan. You will like this mixture
because you get higher yields,
longer giving season ,and better
soil Improvement. The cow* will
like it too, because of Its higher
quality and a better balance diet to
gram.
