While at Dallas this week, in
conversation with D. R. H«rris.
editor of the Rusk County News,
he informed us that tnemoe
his Corn Club, had, this
raised as much as one hu
and fifty busheia of corn to the
acre. And this too on Blast
Texas land that is nothing like
near as rich as the soil in this
county, and yet we doubt if there
is s single acre of corn in this
county that will produce as much
as a hundred bushels. Mr. Har-
ris informed us that the crops
were cultivated under improved
methods. The soil was also fer-
tilized according to improved,
methods. With s e a so na ble
weather through the summer
Mr. Harris is of the opinion that
two hundred bushels to the acre
would not have been impossible.
The crop has been damaged to
some extent by the fall rains.
Mr. Harris is s splendid news-
paper man and also takes a great
deal of interest in the agricul-
tural interests of his county.—
Honey Grove Citizen.
The above from our esteemed
friend Moyers has puzzled this
writer no little. While we have
never been given to talking in our
sleep, this is, evidently, coupled
with the fact that we two slept
in the same room durihg our stay
in Dallas, one of us, for we have
no recollection of any such con-
versation. and yet Moyers has
stated the facts just as he could
have obtained them and we would,
have given them had we been
awake at the time. Now. if Ed-
itor Moyers cannot established
the fact that he was awake, such
an occurrence, might give the
scientists something to take note
of —Rusk County News.
The fact is, Dick, you -were
both in DALLAS, and newspa-
per men are not supposed to re-
member EVERYTHING that
happens while they are in Dal-
las, especially East Texas news-
paper men. To sustain our ar-
gument along these lines, read
what the Mt. Pleasant Times-
Review has to say concerning
you and Bro. Moyer:
Editor Harris of the Rusk
County News was in Dallas and
met Editor Moyer of the Honey
Groye Citizen. The Citizen
printed some statements credited
to Editor Harris, and now Editor
Harris says he is willing to admit
the statements are true, but that
he haa no recollection of making
them- Strange things do occur
in Dallas. Editor Harris says he
may have made the remarks in
his sleep, as he and Editor Moyer
together.
