doches county and for the past sev-
eral weeks has been employed in

of Mr. and Mrs. 8. R. Cranberry of
Celeste, and Noble E. Gholutrvn, son,
of Mr. and J. 8. Gholston of Car-
thage. were married Thursday at 3
P. ***• at the home of the bride’s par-
ents. The Rev. W. B. McDaniel of
Greenville officiated.
The bride wore a petal blue dress
with a matching feather calotte. She
carried a white prayer book with a
white orchid.
Miss Doraine Cranberry of Dallas,
twin sister of the bride waa her only
attendant. 8he wore a pink dust wool
dress trimmed with wool fringe and
lier flowers were gardenias.
Troy Gholston of Carthage attend-

^John Pearce of Celeste gave the wed-
ding music.

WEDDING RITES
A wedding which acclaimed much
Interest during the holiday season
was that of Mias Marie Bell, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Bell of Beck-
.vllle. and W. E. Brassell, son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Brassoll of this
city.
The ceremony, which was a very
simple one, was performed at the
home of the bride in Beckvllle, (with
Rev. A. A. Rider, pastor of tbe Meth-
odist Church, officiating.
Immediately following the ceremony
the couple left on a short wedding
trip to Houston and Galveston. Fol-
lowing their return the bride will
continue to make her home In Car-
thage where she is employed. Mr.
Brassell will return to hts work at
Electra, Texas.

Roe, of Carthage on Saturday. De-
cember 27th, in a ceremony at tbe
First Methodist church, with the
Rev. Guy Wilson officiating.
Tbe bride waa attended by Miss
Betty Furrh and Miss Gene llark-
rider. Mr. Roe was attended by his
cousta, Joe Roe and Robert Brown
The Parent-Teacher Association
met In the high school auditorium
Thursday afternoon, December IS.
The pupils of the second grade, pre-
sented a Christmas palylet under the
direction of their teacher, MtssGunlce
Marie Lockey.
Mrs. Corbett Akins gave the de-
votional, and the Lord’s Prayer was
repeated in unison. Mrs. Eldon Reeves
discussed the topic for the month,
“Not by Bread Alone."
Miss Adella Martin. County Health
Nurse, explained the four-fold pur-
pose of the health program, and ask-
ed for the cooperation of the P. T. A.
In carrying out the program.
Mrs. Ellis Flte.-presldent, was in
charge of the hualnesa session in the
absence of Mrs. H. J. Sledge, the
president. Supt. Q. M. Martin ex-
plained the plan of the schools to
raise the $200, which was their pert
of tbe emergency Red Cross Quota
for Panola County. Tbe faculty waa
to give a second performance of
“Feudin’ in the Hllla" which they
bad presented the week before, with
the proceeds going to the Red Cross
drive. He also announced, that the
regular school dance which la held in
the gymnasium every six weeks, was
to be held Friday night with the ad-
mission fee being given to the Red
Cross.
The second grade won the atten-
dance prize for most mothers present,
and they will also contribute that
money to the Red Cross.
Mrs. Clyde Watson and children of
Houston visited her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Hays during the holidays.

parents Mr. and Mrs. Dan Foster
In Nacogdoches during tbe Christmas
holidays.
Mr. Albert Dale, brother of Mrs.
A. T. Boren, and bla wife and daugh
ter of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mrs.
Anna Dale of Shreveport, La. visited
in the home of Mrs. A. T. Boren
during tho Christmas holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Soape and son
R. B. Jr. have returned to their
home in Carralltoa after spending
the holidays In Jacksonville and Car-
thage.
Richard and Alice Margaret Knight
have as their holiday guests Mina Ger-
ald Mosley of Shreveport, and En-
sign Virgil Brice of Boston.
Carey Rhlddlehoover of Camp
Bowie is spending his Christmas va-
cation in the home of hla parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rhlddlehoover.
Takes Marriage Vows
Mrs. Raymond L. Maugham, who,
before her marriage December 1$, in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ghols-
ston of Carthage, was Miss Margaret
Alice Plnckard. daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. F. A. Plnckard of Gary, Texas.
Tho bridegroom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. W. B. Maugham of Carth-
age. Mr. and Mrs. Mangham will
make their home In New York City,
where he is stationed with the U. 3.
Navy.
Book Club Meets
With Mrs. Davis
The C. C. Book Club met Friday.
Dec. 12 in the home at Mrs. A. L.
Davis.
The hostess greeted the guests at
the door, and Invited them Into the
reception suite which was effective-
ly decorated in the Christmas motif.
A large Christmas tree illuminated
the living room and noted at van-
tage points were arrangements of
nandina berries and Southern smtlax.
The refreshment table waa very
attractive with ^ an artistic arrange-
ment of red berries and bright color-
ed Christmas halls, flanked by sil-
ver candelabra burning red tapers.
